Large retail center okayed for Lower F’ville and Hwy. 154

What began in a Nov. 12 public hearing as a request by Michael and Judy Cunningham to rezone 38.11 acres located along Lower Fayetteville Road and Ga. Highway 154 from Rural Conservation (RC) to C-7 (Commercial Major Shopping Center) and C-8 (Heavy Commercial District) ended Nov. 17 with a 4-0 vote to approve a lesser C-6 zoning that maintained all but a few of the original plan components.

The widening of Ga. Highway 74 south from Cooper Circle to Ga. Highway 85 is expected to begin this Tuesday, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced Monday.

Parolee arrested for molesting girl

Molestation suspect_Nutt, William Jacob

A Union County man recently paroled for burglary and forgery convictions has been charged with a much more serious crime here in Fayette County.

William Jacob Nutt, 23, is charged with aggravated child molestation and statutory rape stemming from an alleged incident Nov. 1 with a 15-year-old relative, sheriff’s officials said. The victim disclosed the incident to her parents that day, and deputies were also notified the same day, sheriff’s officials said.

F'ville looks to move ahead with redevelopment study

For five years the Fayetteville Police Department has made a difference in the lives of children during the Christmas season. Again this year officers hope the community will help with donations for “Christmas with the Police.”

F’ville man arrested on threat to shoot another

Fayetteville resident Trenton Andreas Siler was arrested Nov. 6 after threatening to shoot a man after he claimed the Weatherly Apartments resident had caused his brother to be arrested.

F’ville to appeal decision on old courthouse parking

If they can do it, so can we. That was the idea behind a Nov. 5 decision by the Fayetteville City Council to appeal a decision by Georgia Department of Transportation that denied a city request to install angled parking spaces on the Stonewall Avenue side of the old courthouse.

FayCOG eyes future work in community
