The Cherokee County courthouse was evacuated after a bomb threat Tuesday morning. No device was found.

FAMU is naming former Ohio University music professor Sylvester Young as the new director of its famed Marching 100 band.

Margaret Ruth Groening, whose name was the inspiration for one of her son Matt's characters in TV's long-running "The Simpsons" series, died in her sleep on April 22 in Portland, Ore., a private obituary reported in The Oregonian. She was 94.

Police are involved in a standoff with a possibly armed man at the Motel 6 in Gainesville.

Nathan Christopher Dwight was accused of carjacking a woman and using the car in a violent armed robbery.  But after years in prison the case against him was overturned.

A man jumped on the hood of a car that hit his, and held on as the suspect drove away.

Three women missing for as long as a decade were found alive in a residential area of Cleveland on Monday, and police said they arrested three people in the case.

"The first thing they ask is, 'Did you smoke?' It's annoying at this point," said Samantha Mixon, who was diagnosed in November.

A major accident occurred on Highway 316 at Buford Drive in Lawrenceville Tuesday morning. The roads have since reopened.
