Michael Savich Jr.

Michael Savich Jr, 59, Newnan, died May 12, 2000. He was born April 29, 1941 in Chicago, Ill. He was an industrial engineer.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Savich, Newnan; mother, Bessie Grahovac, Newnan; daughters Tabitha and Rucker Orr and Kassie and Scott Scott, all of Newnan; and grandchildren, Lindsey Renee Orr and Zachary Savich, both of Newnan.
McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge of the arrangements.

Margie Bonner Combs

Margie Bonner Combs, 77, Moreland, died May 14, 2000. She was born Oct. 17, 1922 in Randolph County, Ala., the daughter of the late Alfred H. and Ada Elizabeth Hendley Bonner. She had lived in Moreland since 1954 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moreland.
Services were at the Claude A. McKibben Chapel in Hogansville, with the Rev. Jerry Eley officiating. Interment was at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Hogansville.
Survivors include her husband, Fuller Combs, Moreland; a son, Charles and Sally Combs, Atlanta; daughters Helen and Eddie Williford, Newnan, Faye and Sid Newton, Moreland, and Gail and Melvin Beall, Norcross; a brother, Fred Bonner, Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Belle Newell, Manchester; grandchildren Donna Burger, Griffin, Paula Godfrey, Grantville, Jason Newton and Joshua Newton, both of Moreland, Alicia Beall, Norcross; and great-grandchildren Hayden Jackson and Clay Godfrey, both of Grantville.

Gertrude C. Shiflett

Gertrude C. Shiflett, 82, Grantville, died May 21, 2000. She was born April 17, 1918 in Coweta County, the daughter of John William Henry and Jewel Emma Bryant Costley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Shiflett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grantville, the Grantville Senior Center and was retired from West Point Pepperell in Grantville.
Services were at the Claude A. McKibben Chapel, Hogansville, with the Rev. Jimmie L. Willis officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan;
Survivors include a stepson, Charles Shiflett, Opelika, Ala.; step-grandchildren Glenn Shiflett, Wedowee, Ala., Donna Johnson, Opelika, Ala., Joann Hudgins, Newnan, and Brenda Pope, Atlanta; nine step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great-grandchildren; a great-nephew, David Dorrough, Jonesboro; and a niece, Connie Dorrough, Jonesboro.

Estell H. Adams

Estell H. Adams, 73, Newnan, died May 21, 2000. She was born Sept. 7, 1926 in Fulton County, the daughter of Melvin Horace and Nina Belle Dick Hudson Sr.
Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley Chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. J. E. Jarrard officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn, Newnan.
Survivors include her husband, Doc Adams, Newnan; a son, Chuck and Linda Adams, Newnan; a daughter, Brenda and Larry Herring, Riverdale; grandchildren Kevin Herring, Debbie Herring, Jennifer Herring, Keith and Allison Adams, Kristina Still and Tony Still; great-grandchildren Zachary and Delaney Adams, Cash and Trace Still; brothers Sam Hudson, Fayetteville, Ray and Louise Hudson and Jim and Tonie Hudson, all of McDonough; and sisters Odell and Mickey Bailey, Newnan, Louise Bailey, McDonough and Glenda and Bobby Teate, Stockbridge.

Mary Lynne Eleanor Cummings

Mary Lynne Eleanor Cummings, 69, Sharpsburg, died May 23, 2000. She was born Oct. 8, 1930 in Jackson County, Tenn., the daughter of Otis Thomas and Cora Carnes Malone. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Elaine Tanner.
She was married in 1953 to William “Billy” Tanner, who died in 1967. In 1972 she moved to Atlanta, was a 1977 graduate of nursing school and worked at Southern Regional Medical Center in ICU and oncology. In 1986 she went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, working as a nurse, and met and married Jerry Cummings. They were both there during the Gulf War.
Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley Chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Bob Tyler officiating. Interment was at Wartburg Cemetery, Wartburg, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Cummings, Sharpsburg; daughter Carole Tanner Curry and Bruce Curry, Peachtree City; grandchildren William Tanner and Kristen Elizabeth Curry; stepdaughters Rissie Sharpe and Victoria Cummings; and step-grandchildren Amanda Sharpe and Paige Sharpe.

Opal Houseworth Boyd

Opal Houseworth Boyd, 92, Arnco, died May 24, 2000. She was born Jan. 22, 1907 in Carroll County, Ga., the daughter of Lee and Myrtie Cancellor Houseworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford L. Boyd, two grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.
Services were at the Ephesus Christian Church, Carroll County, with J. C. Cook officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Survivors include children Carlon and Curtiss Rooks, Carrollton, Otha and Norman Gladfelter, Newnan, Annelle and Joe Manion, Chester, Va. and Lawson and Nadine Boyd, Hogansville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and two foster great-grandchildren.
Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge.

Myrtle Inez Smith

Myrtle Inez Smith, 78, Newnan, died May 26, 2000. She was born March 27, 1922.
Graveside services were at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, with the Rev. Don Helms officiating.
Survivors include daughters Angie Beavers Holbrook, Gulf Breeze, Fla. and Pat Beavers Payton, Newnan; and a sister, Linda Williams, Newnan. There are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John J. Parsons

John J. Parsons, 72, Newnan, died May 26, 2000. He was born Aug. 7, 1927 in Moundsville, W. Va., the son of Henry T. and Opal Lee Hill Parsons. He had been in retail sales at K-Mart.
Services were at the Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, with the Rev. Jessie W. Hughes and the Rev. Johnny Hughes officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newan.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Parsons, Newnan; children Craig Parsons, McDonough, Tana McMinis, North Carolina, and Tim Parsons, South Carolina; brothers Henry T. Parsons and Frank Parsons, both of Moundsville, W. Va., Larry Parsons, Flower Grove, N.Y., and Ron Parsons, New York, N.Y. There are three grandchildren.
Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel was in charge.

Patricia Camile McAndrews

Patricia Camile McAndrews, 62, Newnan, died May 27, 2000. She was born July 15, 1937 in New Jersey. She had worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Steven Beers officiating.
Survivors include her mother, Margaret McAndrews, New Jersey; a son, Paul Thomas Barber, Newnan; daughters Margaret Atkins and Anita Blandford, both of Newnan, and Karen Elam, Bakersfield, Calif; and a sister, Jaquline McMuarry, Long Island, N.Y.
There are 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Steve Herbert

Steve Herbert, 48, Newnan, died May 27, 2000. He was born July 19, 1951 in South Carolina and worked as a supervisor.
Local services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. E. M. Shell officiating. Graveside services were at the Greenview Memorial Gardens, Florence, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Herbert, Newnan; a son, Jacob Herbert, Newnan; a daughter, Kelly Lynne Herbert, Newnan; a brother, Eric Herbert, Snellville; and sisters Barbara Barnes, Isle of Palm, S.C., and Cindy Lighton, Wilmington, S.C.
