Thelma Tidwell

Thelma Tidwell, 80, Moreland, died Oct. 21, 2001. She was born Feb. 26, 1921 in Lamar County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weston Tidwell, and parents Edward Lewis and Annie Lynn Graves Butler.
Services were at the Moreland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard M. Huycke and the Rev. Edward Butler officiating. Interment was at Southview Cemetery, Moreland.
Survivors include a son, David Tidwell, Eatonton, Ga.; a daughter, Kaye Arnold, Trinity, N.C.; brothers Edward Butler, Milledgeville, and Herman Butler, Atlanta, and a sister, Emily Witcher, Atlanta.

Randy Joe Thompson

Randy Joe Thompson, 49, Carrollton, died Oct. 22, 2001. He was born Oct. 4, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio. He was a cabinet installer.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. J. C. Cook officiating. Interment was at Ephesus Christian Church Cemetery, Carrollton.
Survivors include his father, Joe Thompson, Newnan; brothers Alan Thompson and Kendall Thompson, both of Newnan, and spouse Sandra Thompson, Carrollton.

William “Uncle Bill” Brazee

William “Uncle Bill” Brazee, 92, Newnan, died Oct. 23, 2001. He was born Aug. 30, 1909 in Galva, Ill. He had been a foundry worker.
Services were at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Newnan, with the Rev. Joe Strickland, and the Rev. O. C. Collins officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Vara Irenee Brazee, Newnan; and nephews Jeffrey and Karen Chappell, Joseph and Brenda Chappell and William and Kim Chappell, all of Newnan.

CW6 Edward Milton Riley

CW6 Edward Milton Riley, 59, Newnan, died Oct. 23, 2001. He was born Jan. 29, 1942 in Barbousville, W.Va. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed by the Army.
Services were at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Gustine, Calif. with a military chaplain officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Riley, Newnan; mother Eva Mae Riley, Calif.; sons David Riley, Newnan, Doug Riley, Marietta, Ga., and Don Terry, Columbus, S.C.; daughters Deborah Riley, Seattle, Wash., and Alicia Chrones, Suwanee, Ga.; four grandchildren; one brother, and one sister.

Vera Louise Willingham

Vera Louise Willingham, 71, Coweta County, died Oct. 24, 2001. She was born Dec. 23, 1929 in Coweta County, the daughter of Noah and Omia Proctor. She retired as a seamstress at West Point Pepperell Textile Mills and was an avid collector of antiques, oddities and “what-nots”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Willingham, and a son, Ricky Lee Coggin.
Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Fleming officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include sons Dennis and Kristi Coggin, Steven and Kim Willingham, and Comer Noah Willingham, all of Newnan; a brother, Bobby and Sara Proctor, Palmetto; a sister, Bernice Crider, Franklin; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Mobley Bernhard

Geraldine Mobley Bernhard, 86, Newnan, died Oct. 25, 2001. She was born June 16, 2001 in Coweta County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Bernhard, brothers Guy Mobley and Ralph Mobley, and grandchildren Kim Brown and Randy Norton. She was a member of the Mills Chapel Baptist Church.
Graveside services were at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, with the Rev. Willard Dean officiating.
Survivors include sons, Joseph W. and Jill Bernhard, Albuquerque, N.M., and Wilson and Patsy Bernhard, Newnan; a daughter, Karen and Donald Froseth, Newnan; 10 grandchildren including Ed Norton, Donna Boles, Monica Baker and Lance Bernard, all of Newnan, and a sister, LaZona Horsley, Sharpsburg.
Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge.

William Edwin Baird

William Edwin Baird, 87, Newnan, died Oct. 28, 2001. He was born Oct. 12, 1914 in Georgia. He was owner of a Genuine Motor Parts and was a veteran.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with pastor Danny Wilson and the Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Baird, Newnan; a son, Thomas Baird, Tallahassee, Fla., and grandchildren Michael Toby Baird, Theodore Edward Baird and Thomas Noah Baird.

Norma Caroline Smith

Norma Caroline Smith, 74, Newnan, formerly of Spring Valley, N.Y., died Oct. 28, 2001. She was born May 24, 1927 to Norman and Edith Pitt in Paterson, N.J. She was a bookkeeper for Rockland Paper Products, a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Spring Valley, N.Y., and a lover of music and dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Charles Harold Smith, and then moved five years ago to Newnan to be with her daughter.
Graveside services were at the Brick Church Cemetery, Spring Valley, N.Y., with the Rev. Johnson officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Terri Smith, Newnan; a sister, Esther Scales, Pembroke Pines, Fla.; nephews and nieces Mary and Billy Scales, Newnan, and Debbie and Bob Kelly, Miramar, Fla., and best friends Helen Stevens and Janet Borchers.

Hattie Idella Allen Williams

Hattie Idella Allen Williams, 94, Newnan, died Oct. 28, 2001. She was born Jan. 17, 1907 in Lenox, Cook County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos McKendall Williams, and a daughter, Marguerite Helen Williams Simril. She was founder of the Hansel & Gretel Nursery School Inc. in Atlanta.
Services were at McKoon Funeral Home chapel, Newnan, with the Rev. Winston Skinner officiating, and also at First Baptist Church Chapel, Tifton, with the Rev. Eddie Allen officiating. Interment was at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Tifton.
Survivors include sons Charles Hansel Williams, Newnan, and Eurith Dickerson and Patricia Williams, Atlanta, and Lewis McKendall Williams, Albany; a daughter, G. Anne Williams, Atlanta; a sister, Marie Allen Varn, Valdosta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Michael “Mickey” Morgan

Michael “Mickey” Morgan, 54, Newnan, died Oct. 29, 2001. He was born Dec. 28, 1946 in Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hutcherson and Mary Lou Morgan, and brothers Eddie Morgan and Kenny Morgan. He was a veteran and was in customer service at Delta Airlines for 32 years.
Services were at the Heritage Christian Church with the Rev. Glen Samples and the Rev. Greg Marksberry officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Green Morgan; a daughter, Stacy Morgan, and a granddaughter, Alexandria Mullinax.
