Lawson French Bell

Lawson French Bell, 94, Peachtree City, died June 1, 2002. He was born Feb. 15, 1908 in Stewart County, Ga. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Steve Bingham officiating. Interment was at Standing Rock United Methodist Cemetery, Standing Rock, Ala. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hines Bell, Peachtree City; a son, French and Ginger Bell Jr., Peachtree City; a brother, Billy and June Bell, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Sarah Bell Ashcraft, El Paso, Texas; and grandsons, Capt. Lawson and Jessica Bell, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska., and Matthew Hines Bell, Portland, Ore. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Mae Webb

Mae Webb, 75, Madison, Fla., formerly of Fayetteville, died June 2, 2002. She was born Dec. 3, 1906 in Monroe County, Ga. She was a retired Fulton County School teacher and taught many years at Longino Elementary School, College Park. Graveside services were at Holly Hills Memorial Cemetery, Fairburn, with the Rev. Richard Quackenbush and the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Charles W. Webb, Madison, Fla., formerly of Fayetteville; a son, Herschel and Florence Webb, Madison, Fla.; a daughter, Beverly and Perry McLean, Fayetteville; four grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and five sisters.

Barbara C. Akins

Barbara C. Akins, 71, Peachtree City, died June 4, 2003. She was born March 23, 1931 in Flat Creek, Walker County, Ala. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. John Weber officiating. Survivors include her husband, David Akins; a son, David and Gail Akins, Peachtree City; a daughter, Barbara and Louis Hill, Alpharetta; and her mother, Marie Golden, Dora, Ala. Carl J. Stanley Roger Schlobohm

Stanley Roger Schlobohm, 52, Peachtree City, died June 4, 2002. He was born April 20, 1950 in St. Louis, Mo. Memorial services were at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness with the Rev. Vince Vellucci officiating. Survivors include his wife, Vicki Lynne Schlobohm, Peachtree City; sons, Cameron Schlobohm, Peachtree City, and Zachery Schlobohm, Tampa, Fla.; mother, Thelma Schlobohm, St. Louis, Mo.; and a sister, Marilyn Bonnie, St. Louis, Mo. Patricia Day Jenkins

Patricia Day Jenkins, 72, Peachtree City, died June 5, 2002. She was born Feb. 6, 1930 in Detroit, Mich. Memorial services were at the First Baptist Church, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Ralph Vaughan Thomas

Ralph Vaughn Thomas, 72, Fayetteville, formerly of East Point, died June 7, 2002. He was born Aug. 25, 1930 in Lee County, Ala. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Thomas, a sister, Peggy Jordan, and a daughter, Donna Lynn Foelker. He enjoyed playing bridge, chess and bowling. He spent many years in Texas where he still maintained long time friends. Until Oct., 2001, his most favorite past time was to aggravate the East Point City Council and mayor. Memorial services will be at a later date. Survivors include his mother, Alma Thomas, Valley, Ala.; brothers, Bobby Marshall and Helen Thomas, Ellijay, Harold “Buck” and Susan Jordan, Dunwoody, and Richard and Jackie Jordan, Warner Robins; sisters Shirley Geneva Whitten, Chula Vista, Calif., and Sue Rondti, New York; and extended family including Norma Mathis, Fayetteville, Mildred and Edna Dison, East Point, and the families of Robert and Susan Mathis, Fayetteville, and David and Tami Mathis, Columbus. Louise H. Huff

Louise H. Huff, 88, Fayetteville, died June 7, 2002. She was born April 26, 1914 in Fulton County. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Allen Huff. Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel with interment at Westview, Atlanta. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Bray, McDonough; grandsons, Bryan Allen Driskell and Bradley Thomas Driskell, both of McDonough, and Christopher Scott Driskell, Stockbridge; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Tart, Duluth. Kimberly Diana Blackwell

Kimberly Diana Blackwell, 23, Peachtree City, died June 7, 2002. She was born Sept. 29, 1978 in Tacoma, Wash. She attended Tyrone Elementary School and was graduated from East Coweta High School in 1997. She was employed at the Longhorn Steakhouse, Peachtree City. She died from leukemia. Services were at the First Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City with Chaplain Amy B. Hair officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include her fiancée Christopher Venza; and family and friends including Debbie Mann, Wesley Stubbs, Elsie Benton, Laura Benton, Cordelle Blackwell, Julia Blackwell, Michael and Lisa Blackwell, Phillips Blackwell, Steve Blackwell, Michele and Casey Lum, Jeff Mann, Ryan Mann, Vicky and Dean Schuh, Gaven and Nathan Schuh, Susan Stubbs, and Jack and Joan Venza. Dura Aldridge Dyer

Dura Aldridge Dyer, 71, Union City, died June 8, 2002. She was born July 31, 1930 in Carroll County. Services were at Southwest Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. James Donovan and Minister Anthony Dyer officiating. Interment was at Westview, Atlanta. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Dr. James W. Dyer Jr.; daughters, Kathy and Bob Every, Fayetteville, Peggy and Doug McNash, Smyrna, and Paul and Bryce Crawford, Peachtree City; grandchildren, Stefanie and Brady Every, James and Haley McNash, and Jordan and Ross Crawford; a brother, James Aldridge, Union City; and sisters, Ruth Hewitt, Rome, Ga., and Jeffie Harris, Corpus Christi, Texas. Hugh M. Read

Hugh M. Read, 48, Fayetteville, died June 9, 2002. He was born Oct. 21, 1953 in Whitesville, N. C. He was the manager of Outpatient Services at Riverwood Psychiatric Center, Riverdale. He was a graduate of Florida State University and obtained his master’s degree in counseling from Western Carolina University. Memorial services were at the Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Ellison officiating. Survivors include his wife, Denise Read, Fayetteville; a daughter, Sarah Frances Read, Fayetteville; a stepson, Glenn Pitner, Fayetteville; a stepdaughter, Caroline Pitner, Fayetteville; his father, Fitzhugh Read, Lakeland, Fla.; mother, Sarah F. Read, Auburndale, Fla.; and sisters, Hilah Mercer, Merritt Island, Fla., and Gay Read, Winter Haven, Fla. Memorial donations may be made to Providence United Methodist Church Building Fund. Carl J. Marie C. Cunningham, 88, Fayetteville, died June 9, 2002. She was born Dec. 19, 1913 in Atlanta. Graveside services were at Forest Lawn Cemetery, College Park. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sandra and Bob Land, Duluth; grandsons, Mark and Lori Scalf, and Chris and Rena Scalf, all of Gainesville; granddaughters, Anna and Stanley Phillips, Peachtree City, and Sandi and Rick Cheek, Roswell; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Stovall.
