Jamerson medals in Australia A local athlete has returned from international competition halfway around the world with some pretty impressive hardware. Billy Jamerson, a senior at Sandy Creek High School and a member of the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team in Peachtree City, recently competed with USAs National Junior Team in the 2004 Queensland Championships in Brisbane, Australia. He won a bronze medal in the 50-meter breaststroke with a personal best time of 29.58 and also swam the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:06.23 for a tenth-place finish. Swimming the breaststroke leg of the 400-meter medley relay, Jamerson helped his team finish in fourth place. His other events included the 50-meter butterfly and the 200-meter breaststroke. Jamerson is the reigning Georgia state champion in the 50-yard freestyle as well as the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke. In December, he signed a scholarship to swim for Florida State. In other swimming news, SCAT is hosting the Southwest Division Championship Feb. 6-8. Last year about 500 swimmers competed from more than 10 teams, and meet officials expect even more activity this year. Back
