| PTC police
'protect' citizens from Boy Scout's archery, BBs I guess that all the citizens of Peachtree City can rest easy, now that their police chief has threatened the arrest of Cub Scouts and their leaders at this year's day camp. What, might you ask, would cause such a drastic reaction, what heinous deed might these young boys commit against the citizens of PTC? They were going to be taught archery and BB gun target shooting along with other Scouting skills, just as many thousands of boys had been taught since the beginning of Scouting. They were going to be taught safe marksmanship under proper supervision, just as in years past. It seems to me in the light of the many accidental shootings by children in recent weeks, instruction about the dangers of guns as well as the safe handling of them would be a good idea. The alternative is children learning by trial and error. Alas, this seems to be a high crime in PTC, therefore the boys will have to forgo these events this year. I am sure all will be able to sleep at night now that their police have banished this scourge from the city! George W. Boggs Fayetteville
