| With
new taxes ahead, where are officials who created this
problem? Now is a good time to be living in Fayette county. Our roads are in gridlock, our drinking water is being polluted by sewage spills, our schools are overcrowded, 10 percent of our classrooms are trailers, we need a new jail and our taxes are going up. Why do I think it is a good time to live here? Now the public knows who caused our current problems: the developer-driven politicians who routinely vote for each annexation or rezoning. I attended the Fayette County School Board public hearing; there was not a single elected official there who caused the problem. Where were former commissioners Bill Bonner, Dan Lakly, Rick Price, Bob Sprayberry and Scott Burrell? Where were former mayors Dettmering, Davis and Santiago? Where were the current elected officials, those that keep voting to rezone to higher residential densities and raising our taxes? The public finally gets the message, If you vote to ruin our quality of life, to dump more children in our school system, pollute our county, overload our roads, and raise our taxes, we will remove you and deny you the opportunity to hold any elected position again. A vote for higher density is a vote for higher taxes. We will not reward repeat offenders; we will not vote for them. Pay attention, citizens: the next time an elected or appointed official votes to rezone or annex, you know what they are doing. Remember that and vow to never vote for them again for anything. A vote to rezone must be the kiss of political death in Fayette County. See you at the polls. Bob
