The Piedmont Fayette Hospital Auxiliary recently chose Adele Andrews as the “2014 Spirit of Volunteerism” award winner because of her dedication to the community she serves.

The prestigious award recognizes Andrews for her “servant heart and willingness to go above and beyond in her volunteer service,” the group said in a statement.

Andrews has been an auxiliary member for eight years and has logged nearly 10,000 hours of volunteer service. She currently serves in the gift shop, in the Women’s Imaging Center as the area service coordinator, and as revenue officer for the auxiliary group of 230 members.

The award is given annually to an auxiliary member who unselfishly demonstrates care and concern for others while volunteering. Contenders are nominated by Piedmont Fayette Auxiliary members, employees and physicians, and the winner is selected by the Spirit of Volunteerism Committee.

Andrews was one of six volunteers honored with a nomination for the annual award. The nominees include Pat Touchstone, Leeman Barge, Sarah Blum, Mary Brunso and Dell McElwaney.
