Two unnamed men were arrested Wednesday night in connection to a home invasion in north Fayette County. The resident, an East Point Police officer, was slightly injured and found duct-taped when deputies arrived. He told deputies that masked men held him at gunpoint during the incident.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Brent Rowan said the incident was called in to Fayette’s 911 center 10:08 p.m. Rowan said that when Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the incident location they found the East Point officer duct taped inside his home with a minor injury to his forehead. The victim told Fayette County deputies at least two masked suspects forced their way into his home displaying a shotgun, said Rowan.

The victim said that the two suspects then bound his hands and feet with duct tape where they proceeded to steal a flat screen television, a hand gun and numerous other electronic devices before fleeing the scene, Rowan said. The victim gave the Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies a physical description of the two suspects but was unable to provide them with any possible vehicle description, Rowan added.

The look-out issued by 911 dispatchers resulted in a Fayetteville Police officer pulling over a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near Ga. Highway 54 and Burch Road. The vehicle’s two occupants matched the description of the suspects provided by the victim, Rowan said.

Rowan said the suspect vehicle attempted to elude the officer but was stopped on Chase Drive. Items from the home invasion were located in the suspect’s vehicle along with masks and shotgun used in the incident, said Rowan.

The two men arrested, whose names are not currently being released, were charged with armed robbery, burglary, false imprisonment and aggravated assault on a police officer, said Rowan. the driver of the vehicle was also charged with a number of traffic violations, Rowan added.

Rowan said the victim, who sustained a minor injury to the forehead, was treated at the scene by paramedics.
