Georgia Author of the Year, Doc Holliday expert and Peachtree City resident Victoria Wilcox will present “Gone With The Wind Goes West: The Surprising Southern Heritage of Doc Holliday” in Fayetteville on Monday, Feb. 23, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Wilcox will speak at Fayetteville location of Fayette Senior Services at 4 Center Drive. The event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Call 770-461-0813 or email name, phone number and event title to register@fayss.org.

Wilcox is the author of “Inheritance” and “Gone West,” her first and second books in the award-winning historical novel trilogy, “Southern Son: The Saga of Doc Holliday.” The third book, “The Last Decision,” will be released in May by Knox Robinson Publishing.

Although the name Doc Holliday conjures images of the Wild West and the shootout at the OK Corral, before he was a Western legend, he was a Southern son, born in Georgia in the last days of the Old South with family links to Margaret Mitchell, author of “Gone With the Wind.”

Wilcox, a member of the Western Writers of America, was named Georgia Author of the Year for First Novel by the Georgia Writers Association for “Inheritance.”

She spent 18 years researching and writing the Southern Son trilogy, becoming a nationally known expert on the life of Doc Holliday. As founding director of Fayetteville’s Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House Museum, Wilcox discovered the story that led to the books.
