Lagniappe Deauxnuts & Coffee is located at 455 Glynn Street in Fayetteville. Owned and operated by Tim and Shann Brooks, Lagniappe (which sounds like lan-yap) promises “a little something extra,” which is what the word means in Louisiana Creole French. That extra might be a fresh baked doughnut with a maple glaze and pieces of bacon on top or it might be the fresh beignets with an extra shake of the powdered sugar. Since opening their doors, the bakery has proven itself to be a great place for get-togethers or business meetings as well as a place to go when you want to slip away to a tiny cafe and get some “me” time.

Lagniappe, which is open 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 6 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays, draws a good crowd for breakfast and lunch. The Maple Bacon deauxnut is one of the more popular breakfast items but the homemade chocolate topped and the peanut butter, which is Shann’s favorite, also fly off the shelves. Those looking for “a little something extra” for their breakfast often order the Holland Filled Long John or the Sausage Deauxnut breakfast sandwich.

When lunch rolls around, the regulars tend to order the Shrimp Poboy, the Cajun Spiced Grouper Sandwich or the Hamburger Deauxnut. There are also some special Cajun offerings that appear on the menu fairly regularly and friends of Lagniappe on Facebook are the first to know and often the first in line. The Seafood Gumbo, when it is on the menu, goes quickly and usually in containers that will last the fans well into the week.
