The second bomb threat at Northgate High School in two weeks occurred Feb. 13. The school was evacuated for only 45 minutes while Coweta County public safety officials checked the school and gave the all-clear for students to return to class.

Coweta County School System spokesman Dean Jackson said a bomb threat was emailed to the school at approximately 9 p.m. on Feb. 10. School officials initiated the bomb threat procedure and evacuated students and staff to a secured location on campus.

Public safety officials quickly responded to the scene, Jackson said, adding that they determined that there was no threat.

Students returned to class at approximately 9:50 a.m., said Jackson.

A Northgate student was arrested on felony charges Jan. 28 in connection with a bomb threat he made earlier in the day after being suspended from school.

Brandon Dale Hammond, 17, was charged with felony making terroristic threats and disrupting a public school according to Lt. Col. James Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
