A proposal to build a movie and TV production studio on Ga. Highway 138 near the Fayette-Clayton county line will be considered by the Fayette County Commission Thursday night.

The owner of the 24-acre site is requesting a rezoning to the general business zoning district from its current residential zoning. The site is located adjacent to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School and fronts along Hwy. 138.

The purchaser of the property, Alvin Williams, has said he will be relocating his studio that is currently in the industrial park in Fayetteville.

The planning commission has approved the rezoning with a condition that the development be tied into the county water system for fire protection requirements.

In other business Thursday night, the commission is slated to consider two other rezonings. One of the rezonings would address a 2.49 acre lot off Rising Star Road so it could be declared legally nonconforming because the lot is less than five acres in size for the agricultural-residential zoning district. The other rezoning would allow development of a single lot on 2.17 acres off Barsi Point on land that is already zoned for residential development.
