The Reverend Dr. Charles Logan Landrum, Jr., 84, retired Presbyterian (PCUSA) minister, died April 4, 2014. He was born March 5, 1930 in Kenly, North Carolina, son of The Reverend Dr. Charles Logan and Marguerite B. Landrum.

He spent most of his youth in Macon, Ga., but graduated from Newberry High School in Newberry, S.C. where he lived while his father served as a Navy Chaplain. He earned the bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Rhodes College. In 1954, he received the Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia where he also earned the Master of Theology and Doctor of Ministries degrees. He earned the Master of Arts degree in counseling in 1957 from the University of Southern Mississippi while in his first pastorate.

On July 20, 1955, he married Virginia Ruth Vann of Citronelle, Alabama.

He served in pastorates for 43 years before retirement to Peachtree City, Ga., in 1996. His pastorates were in Citronelle, Ala.; Dothan, Ala.; Atlanta, Ga.; Suffolk, Va.; and in the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins, WV, where he served 24 years.

He was a member of Atlanta Presbytery and a devoted member of the Peachtree City Rotary Club where he served as President 2005-2006. He particularly enjoyed being with friends and family and playing golf and bridge.

In addition to his wife, Virginia, surviving are one daughter, Ruth (Alan) Soper of Fayetteville, N.C.; one son, David Anderson Landrum of Mont Vernon, N.H.; three grandchildren, Madeleine M. Landrum, Charles Logan Landrum IV, and Wade Anderson Landrum of Mont Vernon, N.H.; one sister, Gayle (James) Booth of Coldspring, Texas, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Charles Logan Landrum, III, his parents, and two sisters, Louise Brown and Rita Landrum.

A memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City on April 6. Graveside services will be conducted at a later date.
