On April 30, 2014, Elsie Florence Dawkins passed into eternal rest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Dawkins Jr.

She is survived by her four children, Allyson Florence Dawkins and husband, Dr. Jan Van den Hende of San Antonio, Texas, Elmer Carl Dawkins and wife, Candace of McDonough, Ga., John Henry Dawkins III and wife, Beth of Peachtree City, Ga.; and Amy Ruby Bird and husband, Mark of Sharpsburg, Ga.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Nick Carl Robison and wife, Keisha of Calhoun, Ga., John Brian Dawkins and wife, Tory of Douglasville, Ga., Heather Danielle Dawkins and Tommy, of Marietta, Ga., Justin Marshall Dawkins, and Joseph Eugene Dawkins of Douglasville, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Karley Robison of Calhoun, Ga., Leigh Faye and Lisa Marie Dawkins of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Amanda Dawkins DeBuc, husband David, and great-grandson, Mason of Newnan, Ga., Mary Dawkins of East Point, Ga., John Dawkins of Peachtree City, Ga., Jessica Dawkins Beck, husband Matt, and great- granddaughter Mary Ann of Columbia, S.C., and Maggie Dawkins of Newnan, Ga.

Elsie was born in Atlanta on December 19, 1925. During her life she resided in Atlanta, Hapeville, Tyrone and Fayetteville, Ga. Elsie was a woman of many talents and an infectious sense of humor. While in her fifties, Elsie put herself through business school to learn computer skills. She then went on to get a job at the College of Business at Georgia Tech where she was frequently asked by professors to process textbooks, as well as by students to process papers. Earlier in her life she was a constant smiling face at voting polls as she was firmly committed to civic responsibility. Elsie was a longtime active member of Hapeville United Methodist Church in Hapeville, Ga.

There will be a private family graveside service at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. A memorial service and reception will be held at Peachtree City First Presbyterian Church, 206 Willow Bend Road, Peachtree City, Ga. at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity.

The dynamic mother and friend, Elsie, will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
