Learnard’s attacks tarnish Fayette, PTC

It amazes me why Councilwoman Kim Learnard of Peachtree City continues to pick fights with other politicians. She seems to have her claws out for Steve Brown now. It was this same councilwoman who continuously skirmished with former Mayor Don Haddix, wasn’t it?

I would think that with the addition of new and exciting opportunities from outside business coming into the county and possibly into Peachtree City, it would be better if we had civil debates and discourse over what is or is not best for Fayette County as a whole and specifically for the better quality of life for Peachtree City, Ga.

One does not have to bite their tongue always to be civil, but, the disagreements should not be “blown up and exploded” in the local newspapers or pure fodder for the “blogs.” Wasn’t there an old adage about “you get more with honey than with vinegar”?

Come on, Councilwoman Learnard, picking on former Mayor Haddix, now spitting venom at Mr. Brown, a “wrecking crew.” Now is this a positive image we wish to project to prospective employers who may be looking at Fayette County as a future destination?

I met you once and discussed your concern about getting a College and Career Academy. You seemed to be a person above petty comments like that. This is not a positive for me if you are a “flame thrower” at fellow politicians all the time.

In my observations, the past two years on the County Commission has been two of the most transparent years in a long time. Citizens get to have their say at the board meetings. Problems with bad connotations have been tackled openly and although with some controversy, been worked out. The County Commission and its leadership have tried to work with the other towns and cities in the county to have a cohesive working relationship.

I and others have been very pleased to see the positive results coming from the Board of Commissioners. Now, if there would be similar harmony in the PTC City Council, things could probably get moved forward without so much acrimony.

May I respectively suggest that Ms. Learnard go to the Board of Commissioners and sit down with Mr. Brown and Mr. Oddo and the others and discuss how PTC and the county could work better and more cooperatively. I for one am tired of the name-calling and open “gutting” of their political opponents of some in the PTC Council.

Sore loser Nuk

You know Steve Brown did more to defend the average citizen than any other elected official!!! Oh sure he had to keep Bob Lenox off our backs and the Peachtree City development commission crooks too. I praise him for that.

Nuk you're constantly negative so you talking about anybody is a real farce.

The development commission was so bad Kim Learnard and the gang abolished the entire organization. Your guy Logsdon paid off all of their dirty loans after Brown refused to do it.

The reader of the blogs are consistently finding out that the negative Logsdon bloggers have nothing good to say about their own candidate so they have to continually sling mud at his opponent.

The voters are tired of negative bloggers and people like Learnard who bash people in public who have done them no wrong.

Why did Logsdon beat Brown by over 60+ points? Do you realize how huge that margin was? For example, I seem to recall Brown beat inept Jack smith about what...6%? NOT 60%! He could barely beat JACK SMITH.

How about Brown vs. Ramsey? Man, that was fun....lost by even more in that race....was it a 70 point margin or am I confusing Brown vs. Logsdon humiliation vs. Brown vs. Ramsey annihilation and one beat him by 60 points and the other 70? It's hard to recall that since both were utter destruction, almost as bad as Haddix this past fall.

Yeah, keep picking those winners, johenry.

Steve Brown has done more for the Fayette population as a whole than any of our previous commissioners.

A few people here are constantly making disparaging remarks about Steve, and all the while they are doing that, he is fighting for their rights to speak here and during commission meetings.

He fought for everyone's right to know how our Fayette County money would be spent on MARTA and Atlanta Beltway projects if the Regional T-SPLOST was passed.

He traveled all over the region and other parts of the State at his own expense, informing taxpayers of the hidden loopholes within the Regional T-SPLOST. He participated in debates with proponents of the T-SPLOST. Because of his dedication to all taxpayers, he gained the respect of officials throughout the region and even further out.

It is very apparent that some folks here are just dedicated to making offensive remarks. They make their offensive remarks and then say they aren't necessarily going to vote for either of Mr. Brown's opponents.

Hilarious!

When Steve Brown wasn't attacking people behind the podium or in the newspaper non-stop like Lenox, even Farr, fellow councilmembers, the entire DAPC, he also took his swings at "all developers and bankers" and anyone on here with a bunch of half-truths or outright lies. Yet, you don't see any hypocrisy at all in this. Of course not....this Kool-Aid tastes good!

How about this course: "Ok Brown was terrible in PTC but has learned a lot from all of his mistakes and blasting-off at the mouth constantly and changing his positions like most people do their underwear. Losing by 60+ and 70+ percent of the vote in two elections woke him up to change his ideals and principles. Now, he's a lot more mature and better for it."

The above would might make some sense to me.

Shame on Kim Learnard!!!

She needs to stop the bush league politics. Ms. Learnard is supporting Harold Logsdon who has no ideas, no direction and a lot of baggage!!!

I laughed at my mailbox when I saw Logsdon's postcard that said "Harold Logsdon for Peachtree City Mayor" in big red letters. It said MAYOR and he's running in the county commissioner race!!!

The guy forgot what race he was in for crying out loud. Even funnier was the postcard said absolutely nothing of importance. He's an empty suit and his lowly record as mayor and his lack of ideas prove it. Logsdon could use the mayor's race postcard for the county commissioner race because neither one of them address a single issue facing the county or city!!!

There's not a single one in my bunco group who is impressed with Logsdon. Just plain crazy!

Logsdon running for mayor?

That postcard was strange. My wife handed the postcard to me and said here is Harold Logsdon's new postcard. I looked at and said this is the old one because it says he is running for mayor of Peachtree City.

She said, no, that she just got it out of the mail box. The other side had the right race.

Logsdon's either being green or cheap

Whoever didn't check it out before handing it off to the post office deserves a beating.

But both candidates are sending their literature to my abode and I am in the lucky part of PTC that's in Ognio's district.

Your postcard said Chairman and that's not correct either.

That's not what we are voting for at all. This election is to elect a County Commissioner from the 3rd District , which is a part of Peachtree City- term begins in January 2015 for 4 long years. If Ognio and Barlow want you to be Chairman next January, assuming you don't offend them before then, then they will vote with you for you. If Pota can draw one or both of them off to vote for ODDO, well so be it. but nothing about this election has anything to do with us voting for Chairman. Throw rocks at Logsdon if you want, but I have an opinion too, Want to hear what it is?

AT THIS POINT WHAT POSSIBLE DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE!!!
Clever, huh?

Sadly more voters will read that crap than anything else

And worse, they will make up their minds from a postcard or a yard sign without ever reading a word on here or in The Citizen. The ones who think they are doing research will take the additional step of viewing the candidate's website and believe every word written there.

And in second place, but still on the list of things that seem to influence voters are waving by the roadside and robocalls. And we act so surprised when a Brown or a Smith or a Hearn or a Weed or a Barlow or a Haddix or even an Obama gets elected. I used to have an automatic default position of no voting for anyone who waves on the road or sends a robocall my way. Unfortunately that eliminated everyone. My conclusion is that as distasteful as that stuff is, it must work. God help us.

Yes: Logsdon said "mayor" on his county commissioner postcard

Logsdon publicly supported former County Chairman Jack Smith who engaged in deficit spending, who berated citizens at commission meetings, who voted to include us into a massively expensive regional mass transit plan that cost billions of dollars, who’s solution for the interchange at Hwy 74 and I-85 was to abolish it and move it to Hwy 92.

He's running in so many elections, Logsdon actually put that he was running for Peachtree City mayor on the county commissioner race postcard.

I have to ponder this one. A good night's sleep is in order now. Maybe I'll get part-drunk before I nod off.

He probably had some pre-printed on 1 side leftover

from his previous campaign for mayor. That's good frugal behavior - a form of recycling, if you will. I am proud to have this fine man represent me (well, not me, but others in PTC).

Either that or he is just not good at detail or maybe he needs a new campaign manager.

One thing for certain is how each of them - Brown, Haddix and Logsdon react or respond to this. It will tell us a lot about their character.
