Dorothy Marion Betts (Wolfgram), cherished wife of Herbert Alexander Betts Sr., went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2014.

Born in Des Plaines, Ill. on September 9, 1928, she was the beloved daughter of Anna Michehl and Conrad Wolfgram.  Raised in Des Plaines, she met Herbert Alexander Betts Sr. at AT&T in Chicago and married him on September 3, 1949. It was love at first sight; “our dad went home that very day and told his parents he had just met the girl he was going to marry”.

They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this September. They raised their four children, Herbert Alexander Betts Jr, Thomas Betts, Suzanne Betts and Deborah Betts, in Calumet Park and then Arlington Heights. They retired in Peachtree City, Ga. in 1984.

Dorothy profoundly touched many people’s lives through her faith in the Lord, her loving kindness, her artistic nature and her generous spirit. Her godly heritage will go on through the impact she has had on her children, her grandchildren, Herbert Alexander Betts III, Sara Betts, Jessica Betts, Jeffrey Betts, Shaolynn Betts, Cameron Williams, Andrea Williams, Alina Kupras and Joshua Kupras; her great-grandchildren, Herbert Alexander Betts IV and CJ Williams; her daughters-in-law, Caren Betts and Rong Rong Shao; and her son in-law, Charles Williams.

She is also survived by her brother, Arnold Wolfgram; sister, Anna Mae and Ed Larsen; and sister-in-law, Mona Wolf. Her husband and family will miss her so very much but rejoice that she is with the Lord.

She will be laid to rest at Ridgewood Memorial, 9900 N Milwaukee Ave, Des Plaines, Ill. 60016. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10th.

A memorial service will be held at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Ga. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11 a.m.
