B.D. Luke, MD, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away at home May 6, 2014 after a lengthy illness. 

He was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and interned at University Hospital, Augusta. Dr. Luke established the first medical practice in Morrow, Ga. and was a charter staff member at South Fulton Hospital. Additionally, he served as the staff physician at Clayton State College.

Dr. Luke always carried his black medical bag and was one of the few doctors who still made house calls. He delivered and treated many generations in Clayton County.

Dr. Luke liked to farm, fish, and hunt and loved to ride his horse, Blacky. He was a crackerjack marksman. He was a loving husband, father, and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Naomi Luke; daughter Jeanne (Tom) Longerbeam; son Larry Luke; daughter Maria Luke D.V.M.; son David (Kayce) Luke; and grandchildren Carson, Amelia, and Garrett. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The private burial will be held Saturday, May, 10, 2014 at Old City Cemetery, Nashville, Ga. The family received friends, family, and former patients Friday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
