Carthelle Huau, 96, of Peachtree City, passed away June 12, 2014.

She was born in Sparta, Tenn. then later moved to Roswell, N.M. She graduated from New Mexico State University and married Joseph Huau in 1943 after he graduated from Westpoint and chose to serve in the Army/Air Corp during WWII. They moved many times while Joe was in the Air Force and finally retired in 1964 to Homestead, Fla. Carthelle went through hurricane Andrew in 1992 which is what brought her to Peachtree City in 1993 to be near her family. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Peachtree City. She was loved much and will be missed by everyone and never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. Huau, Jr.

She is survived by her sons Joseph K. Huau and his wife Patti and Patrick J. Huau and his wife Candy; grandchildren Nicole, Andy, Corey and Crystal; great-grandchildren Wesley, Katie, Cooper, Holden, William, Ava, Colton and Callie. Brothers Oliver, Kelly and Malcolm Johnson and sister Grace Van Buskirk also preceded her in death. Surviving sisters-in-law are Marilyn Johnson and Becky Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Peachtree City. Pastor Art Fulks will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Mrs. Huau will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. next to her husband at a later date.
