Why no outcry about NAACP voting lawsuit?
I have a very hard time believing that no one is writing in to the editor regarding this NAACP lawsuit against at large voting in Fayette County. Where are the letters?
This lawsuit, if won by the NAACP, will have a greater impact on this county than anything in the county’s history. I am pretty sure that I am not the only one that sees this.
I don’t see how people can vote solely on color without regard for their real interests, namely the value of their property and quality of life. The preservation of all things that have served to make this county such a fine place to live should be the number one consideration when choosing a candidate.
Shouldn’t we strive for a county “where [candidates for local office] will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character”?

I saw where the Dallas chapter wants the Texas lottery shut down. The chapter president calls the lottery "racist" and says it specifically targets blacks, as well as people who are poor and uneducated. She also charges that the lottery has not done enough to provide local schools with adequate funding. This is a quote from the chapter president:
“They have this delusion that they’re going to win,” said chapter president Dr. Juanita Wallace. “I want them to shut it down,” she said. “Our people are spending their little money, their life savings away in hopes of winning.”
Wallace said one man she knew died last week without health insurance because he withdrew all of the funds from his policy to buy lottery tickets.
Lotteries, sugary drinks, fast food and what else? Obviously, the government must step in and save people from themselves here. I mean, we all know what a non-starter personal responsibility is....
