Clara S. Fowler, 91, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral services and a celebration of her life were held at 2 p.m., Monday at Pine Forest Baptist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Norm Yukers and the Rev. Jimmy Corbitt officiated. The family met friends from 12:30 p.m. to service time on Monday at the church.

Mrs. Fowler, wife of the late Raymond C. Fowler, was born in Barney, Ga. the daughter of the late Horace V. and Ruth Whipple Scruggs. She was formerly a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church for sixty years where she served more than thirty years as church secretary, teaching the Friendship Sunday School Class for many years and a member of the C.O.D. Club. Mrs. Fowler was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was proud to be known as “Silly Granny.”

Survivors include those she loved most, her children Beth Hatcher, Bonnie Kaplan, James H. Ward, Myra (Leon) Barfield, Patty Oliver, Bert (Mary) Fowler; fifteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Scruggs, Rachel (Gerald) Camp, Dorothy Yarbrough; several nieces and nephews.
