PTC Councilman Dienhart endorses county commission candidates

Many people have asked me who I am supporting in the three county board races. For me, this decision broke down to several key points:

· A candidate’s honesty and integrity

· The candidates’ sense of judgment,

· Where the candidate stands in the massive TSPLOST tax, and finally

· Is the candidate willing to put in the time to do the job correctly?

County Board Post 1. This race was the easiest to decide. I am supporting Chuck Oddo for post 1. We have an incumbent that showed his true lack of character when he was arrested for smoking Marijuana in his car. I won’t get into all the gory details but Commissioner Horgan made an incredibly bad decision to smoke an illegal substance, in his car, which had expired tags. County Commissioners are not above the law. Commissioner Horgan took an oath to uphold the laws of our county. It is an embarrassment that he can willfully and knowingly break the law and still serve this county. To top it off, Commissioner Horgan is still trying to dodge the TSPLOST issue by saying that he has yet to decide whether or not he supports the tax. This shows a decided lack of character on his part.

On the other hand, Chuck Oddo is a good man of good character. He does not support the TSPLOST. He is a local businessman with an impeccable reputation. As I said, this was easy. Oddo for Post one.

I am supporting David Barlow for Post 2. Again, character was a major part of why I am supporting Mr. Barlow. He is a God fearing, hard fighting man of the people. I know that he will always vote for what he believes is right, regardless of the pressure from those outside his office. He has been attending board meetings for quite some time and seemed to have a better grasp of issues than his opponents. He is against the TSPLOST, as is one of his opponents (Sheila Huddleston). This is where Mr. Barlow’s character contrasts Jack Smith's. Jack also hedged on the TSPLOST question, during the debates. He, like Horgan, stated he hadn’t decided yet. I look forward to his statement once he decides. Barlow for Post 2.

I am supporting Randy Ogino for post 3. Randy has stood for transparency in government, and against the TSPLOST. Randy was probably the most knowledgeable of all the candidates in the forum. He attends all the county board meetings and has stood up and represented us at these meetings time and time again. He has often been the sole voice of reason. He is passionate about our county government, and I believe he deserves to officially represent us. Ogino for Post 3.

Above all, I urge everyone to look at the issues and decide for themselves. We get to vote for each County Board Post once every four years. Please exercise your right to vote on July 31st.

Candidate Interviews

There are candidate interviews running on Comcast Channel 25 from now until the election. The County Commission is at the top of every hour and the Board of Education is at the bottom of every hour. They are worth the time to listen and get some insight into the candidates' views and positions.

Seeing candidates on TV...

Yeah, I'm scared by most of these folks after seeing them on TV. Can we get other choices that don't look and sound like bumpkins or robots.

The folks that aren't reading (Hollowell, Smith) seem to be actually answering the questions asked versus reading their mantras....yes, I'm looking at you, barrymarchman.com

These folks really need to take speech classes. Ugh.

"Faith, Family and Fayette County!"

Remember - if you vote for the TSPLOST, you have to answer to God, or at least the God Squad holding their campaign signs out on 74 in Tyrone AND 74/85 for the morning commute!

Better Candidates?

Well, I suppose if we need a choice that doesn't look and sound like a bumpkin or a robot or need to take speech class, or isn't a believer we'd need to have you, istilldonknow. Too busy fer us stupid folks?

Have you ever attended a county commission meeting?

Please do. Get involved. You will see first hand the passion and research a few of your fellow Fayette County citizens provide in hopes of exposing a few of the irresponsible decision makers currenty in office. Polished politicians or public speakers is not a requirement for this position. Honesty, transparency, fisical responsibility, and representing the average fayette county taxpayer is required.

Signed: Team 2 of God Squad. We have at least 5 teams in 5 locations come join us and have fun!

Different Choices for County Commission

The following appeared as a paid political ad -

A recent “Letter to the Editor” admonished Fayette County citizens to “know who you are voting for”.

We do. We have known some of the people who are running for County Commission for years and have gotten to know others more recently. We also know the issues and challenges that confront a County Commissioner.

That's because we've served a combined 16 years on the Fayette County Commission. We still live in Fayette and our focus is still on Fayette. We're concerned about Fayette's future and about preserving the quality of life that brought us all here.

Based on this, we have agreed that we should support Sheila Huddleston and Susan Stopford for County Commission. We trust them.

We are confident that these individuals want to represent the citizens of Fayette County, and not themselves. We are confident that these individuals will carefully consider issues by using the understanding of Fayette's values that they share with all of us.

We are confident that they will not take part in cliques or factions. Fayette County citizens have had enough of that.

We are grateful that these independent individuals have stepped forward. We ask you to join us in voting for them.

Rick Price – Fayette County Commission 1988-1996. State Senator 1996-2000.
Peter Pfeifer – Fayette County Commission 2000-2008.

Wow, an endorsement from Rick Price

Wow, an endorsement from Rick Price is about as bad as an endorsement from Eric "The Kiss of Death" Maxwell.

Maxwell--- he objects to a guy who files a legal remedy called bankruptcy but as to a guy who doesn't pay his taxes, smokes pot in public and then tries to bribe an officer of the law--- hey, that's cool. Speaking of not paying taxes, Eric files a false complaint against McCarty (who did pay his taxes) and then gives $2,000 to Ott who didn't pay his taxes. Go figure.

Back to Rick Price. What a huge target he gives up. I threw up in a trash can when I heard he was thinking about running again.

Take these two ladies. Who the heck are they? How can any Huddleston be as unknown as she is. Look at the Sams family. Everybody knows them.

I agree with the Marine.

I'm sorry Peter. We expect more from you than this.

Thanks Councilman Dienhart ...

...For publicizing your choices for the County commission seats.

Now would you care to comment on the likelihood of Commissioner Brown rising to chair the commission should your choices prevail?

Certainly, you remember him as your mayor.

George has too much class to comment, but I don't

Barlow = Brown. Bankrupt (twice) Barlow backs Brown for commission chair.

Just avoid people with names starting with B.

O's are much more in this year (except for Ott)

Ognio
Huddleston (or Smith if your only motivation is keeping Brown out of the chair chair).
Oddo
McMillan
Sanderson

I doubt Oddo will back Brown, but Huddleston could and Ognio might. With 3 rookies coming in, they might look to Brown as some type of senior statesman (gaaaaaggg) and make him chair. You may have to get used to the idea, but for sure he won't be any worse at local meetings than Haddix. It is just the embarrassment factor when he goes to ARC meetings and honestly thinks he's the smartest person in the room.

It's Barlow, Oddo, and Ognio for me

Mr. Barlow has posted videos of commissioners meetings at his own expense on U-Tube. He has been pressing for more transparency in the Fayette Commission ever since I've known him. Mr. Ognio has built a successful business from the ground up. He provides opinions on forthcoming commissioners meeting agendas which are circulated and recirculated by email. I don't know Mr. Oddo as well, but the people I know who support Messrs. Barlow and Ogino seem to support him, too. I have not seen nor heard anything bad about Mr. Oddo, so that, in itself, is a very good sign.

Agreed, Pips

I think the county will be in good hands with the election of these 3.
