Coweta County Sheriff’s investigators are attempting to locate a man who posed as a federal agent while visiting a Sharpsburg residence on July 31.

Sgt. Donnie Payne said a man identifying himself as Robert Sturgess, an agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, visited a residence on the Tomahawk Drive area of Sharpsburg on July 31.

Payne said the man displayed some form of identification referred to as a “gold badge” to the homeowner and was allowed into the home. The man claimed he was working a “top secret case” and inquired about citizenship and human trafficking, Payne said.

Payne noted that the man knew the name of the resident’s juvenile son.

The man is wanted for impersonating a federal agent. He had short hair and was wearing sunglasses, a dark suit, blue shirt and a dark tie.

The man was last seen at approximately 8:30 p.m. driving a vehicle similar to a silver Pontiac Grand Prix.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information pertaining to him is asked to contact Sgt. Donnie Payne at 770-253-1502.
