The future look of Peachtree City’s westside is set to be scrutinized by the city’s Planning Commission Monday night. In sum, the Planning Commission will look at two subdivisions that would add more than 800 homes to the city’s housing stock.
First, the commission will hold a public hearing on the 650-unit age-restricted Cresswind development on 403 acres in Wilksmoor Village on the city’s northwest side. Homes are projected to be in the 200s to the mid- to high-400s and will be sold to homebuyers aged 55 and up. The developer is proposing changes to the original concept plat, minimum lot size, home size and other issues.
In late July, the Planning Commission opposed any notion of a gated subdivision with security entrances and also voiced their opposition to at least a 1,000-foot buffer from any new fire station. A proposed new station is tentatively sited on John Wieland Homes land adjacent to the Cresswind project.
Next, the commission will review the concept plat for the John Wieland Everton at Wilksmoor Village development.The development is panned to have 208 homes on an 88-acre tract for near MacDuff Parkway. The tract is located along the CSX railroad that was previously zoned for industrial development. In previous discussions, Wieland officials have said some of the homes will be sold above the $350,000 mark and some will eclipse $400,000. The development will have a number of pocket parks designed to be used by residents.
The commission will also consider a conceptual site plan for a family entertainment center on Widget Drive in the industrial park area of the city.
The 40,000-plus-square-foot building would house an indoor amusement center featuring competition and recreational bowling lanes, a gaming arcade area, and a sports bar and restaurant.
The commission meets Monday night at 7 p.m. at Peachtree City Hall.
