The Mad Hatter tea party will be a walk through Wonderland. The event is Nov. 15 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newnan Centre on Lower Fayetteville road. Guests will be able to bid during a silent auction on “the Queen’s dowery,” as well as mill around with characters from Alice in Wonderland, all while enjoying adult drinks and heavy hors de oeuvres.

The event is put on by Family Patterns Matter, Inc. (FPM), a youth-based, development organization that primarily focuses on bullying prevention. The purpose is to define generational patterns in families to allow for positive results in order for the next generation has the opportunity to thrive. Designed to enable, equip and motivate youths to recognize unhealthy lifestyle patterns and change the pattern to healthy.

The theme of the evening centers around Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” because it personifies FPM’s mission: helping youths discover their value. FPM drew a parallel with Burton’s adolescent Alice, who struggles to find out who she is and where she fits in.

After tumbling down the rabbit hole, Alice’s journey in Wonderland allows her to discover vital areas of wonderment where she meets characters who help her discover profound things about herself.

Tickets are $35, with all proceeds going to Family Pattern’s Youth Advisory Board, which exists to enhance self-awareness, self-confidence and self-pride among youths.

The event also features “a table of heroes,” made up of particular individuals working for our youth to have a better life.

The 7-foot Jabberwocky head (who signifies the negative and unhealthy issues that our youth face and also is where the Queen of Hearts, who represents bullying, gets her power), will make an appearance at the hero table, as well.

The several characters who will be at the event include Alice, the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar, the White Queen, the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter. The movie will be playing in the background.
