A former youth pastor at Heritage Christian Church has been charged with sexually molesting a boy under the age of 16, The Citizen has learned.

Nathan Donald Moore, 24, of Lone Oak Drive in south Fayette County is being held in jail without bond on six counts of felony child molestation, six counts of felony aggravated child molestation and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

According to the arrest warrants filed in the case, the incidents happened between March 1 and Aug. 31 of this year at Moore’s residence, which is located on the far southern edge of Fayette County.

Sheriff’s investigators said the case involved Moore having sexual contact with a juvenile victim on at least six different occasions. The sheriff’s department is also looking into the possibility of whether there are any more victims, but as of Friday none had been identified, officials said.

The sheriff’s office also declined to confirm the age of the victim, how Moore knew the victim, and Moore’s previous place of employment, citing the need for more interviews related to the ongoing investigation.

According to a document found online, Moore served as the “basketball team chaplain” for the Whitewater High School boys basketball team in 2009.

No one from Heritage Christian Church could be reached by press time Friday, but The Citizen has been told that he is no longer employed there.

The church in an online posting advertised on June 13 that it was seeking a full-time children’s minister, though it is not known if this is the same position that was formerly held by Moore.

Heritage Christian — whose website says it is non-denominational — has a large campus just east of Peachtree City, near the intersection of Redwine and Bernhard roads.
