Mr. Hiram Michael “Mike” Perkins, 64, of Fayetteville, died November 8, 2014.

Mike retired in 2002 as a Colonel in the US Marine Corp, where he was a pilot. He participated in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in various ways including Youth Ministry, ESL (English as Second Language), and numerous international mission trips.

Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his father Thomas Hollis Perkins, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janice Johnston Perkins, of Fayetteville; daughter Kellie (Michael) Medlin; grandchildren Gabriel Hollis Medlin, Christina Rae Medlin, Jacob Wayne Medlin, Abigail Renelle Medlin, all of Chichigalpa, Nicaragua; mother Elizabeth Perkins of Fayetteville; brother Thomas (Renelle) Perkins, III of Fayetteville, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Dennis Watson and Rev. Ken Helms officiated.

The burial will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. with full military honors.

The family received friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s memory to Harps Crossing Baptist Church Mission Trip / Scholarship Fund.
