Philip R. Slagle, age 81, of Fayetteville, Ga. and formerly of Fairfield, Ohio died peacefully at 9:02 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Ashley Glen Senior Living and Memory Care in Peachtree City, Ga.

Born January 29, 1932 in Brookville, Ind., he was the son of the late Bradley & Eva (Leigh) Slagle. He attended the former Brookville High School in Brookville, Ind.

On January 13, 1951 he and the former Wilma Jane Bishop were united in marriage, and she survives. He retired in 1993 from Avon Products where he had worked for many years. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Fayetteville, Ga.

Philip was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Ga.; a Volunteer for the Republican Party of Fayetteville; and a member of the Fayette Senior Services. He was an avid traveler, and lover of life. A wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love for which his family is very thankful.

Besides Wilma, his loving wife of over 62 years, survivors include two daughters; Connie (Mike) Nolan of Ludlow, Ky. and Pam (Steve) Kubit of Fayetteville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kristy (Dwayne) Turner, Sandi (Scott) Whitt, Kyle Kubit, and Devin (Ronna) Kubit; eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Jake, Kody, Nolan Marie, Savannah, Mathew, Maura and Bradley. Philip is also survived by two brothers, David Slagle and Mark Timothy Slagle both of Brookville, Ind.; as well as many nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucy Christine, Geneva, Dorothy Jean and Ruth Marie; three brothers, James Oliver, William Jerry, and Chester Slagle.

Family & friends may visit from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

Rev. Freddie Helton will officiate the Funeral Services on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, 10:30 a.m., Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will then follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
