Holiday shows right around the corner

Next Thursday, most families will be gathered around a turkey celebrating Thanksgiving and that night, with Black Friday sales beginning at the stores, the Christmas season officially kicks off. If mobs of consumers doesn’t put you in the holiday spirit, consider purchasing tickets to one of the many holiday shows coming to local stages.

The Legacy Theatre launches “Winter Wonderettes,” next Friday. The show is a seasonal sequel to “The Marvelous Wonderettes.” When Santa goes missing, the girls must use their talent and creative ingenuity, plus some great holiday tunes such as “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Winter Wonderland,” and many more holiday favorites to save their holiday party. Tickets are $15 for children 12 and under, $22 for seniors and students and $25 for adults. Performance times are 8 p.m. Fridays, 3 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.

In December, Southside Theatre Guild will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” Thursdays-Sundays, Dec. 6-16. Performances for the beloved holiday comedy are at 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $8 for children ages 12 and under, $14 in advance and $15 at the door opening weekend and $16 in advance and $17.50 at the door all other weekends. Newnan Theatre Company will have some shows for the kids and families – “Madeline’s Christmas” and “A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail,” and a show for adults “Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge.” The family friendly shows run on the Main Stage Friday-Sunday, Dec. 7-9 and Dec. 14-16. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets range from $8-$14.

The adult comedy will run Thursdays-Sundays, Dec. 6-16 in the Black Box Theater at Newnan Theatre Company. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and 10:30 p.m. on Fridays. Tickets are $7 on Thursdays and $8-$14 for all other performances.

Peachtree City School of Dance will present “The Nutcracker,” on Saturday Dec. 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at Our Lady Of Mercy High School in Fayetteville. This holiday extravaganza features a local cast of over 100 dancers in beautiful costumes, lavish scenery, and a family friendly ticket price of just $10. Tickets are available at Peachtree City School of Dance, Coweta Dance Academy, and Tutu Dance Boutique. Georgia Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker Tea will be held at Bennett’s Mill Middle School on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. Bennett’s Mill Middle School is located at 210 Lester Road, Fayetteville. Tickets to this all-inclusive event are just $15 and can be purchased online at www.gadance.com with VISA or MasterCard.
