Ruth Liesel Schildheuer Prater, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away Nov. 27, 2012. She was born in Vienna, Austria Dec. 14, 1923 and graduated from Reichstheaterkammer in Karlsruhe, Germany receiving an education in music, voice and composition.

She and her husband of 47 years, Major Charles L. Prater, (deceased) moved to Fayetteville from East Point in 1989. She became an active member of the community as a full-time volunteer in the ministry of Jehovah’s Witnesses and is known in the area as “the little German (Austrian) lady that teaches the Bible.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willi Schildheuer and Petronella Kemmerling Schildheuer; and her husband, Major Charles L. Prater.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Prater Jones and her husband Harold Anthony Jones of Molena; her daughter, Arlene Prater Perry and her husband Michael Perry of Griffin; her son, Joseph W. Prater and his wife Rita Chastain Prater of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Lindsay Prater of Fayetteville; Kendall Jones of Griffin; Michael J. Perry and his wife Brandy Pack Perry of Griffin; Stacey Prater Orr and her husband William Trent Orr of Atlanta; Nicole Perry Scibetta and her husband Joseph Scibetta of Griffin.

The family received visitors Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell & Sons Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ga.

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2 p.m., at the North Griffin Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2940 North Expressway, Griffin, Ga. 30223.
