James Lowell Lindlief, age 81, of Peachtree City, Ga. passed away on November 30, 2013.

Jim was born on December 23, 1931 in Lincoln Township, Buena Vista County, Iowa to George and Emily Lindlief.

He received his education at Brooke School, Alta, Iowa grade and high school and graduated from Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa in the spring of 1953. He played football in high school and college. Jim joined the U.S.M.C in 1953 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in December 1953. He received his Naval Aviation Wings in September 1955. He served in various aviation squadrons during his 13 years on active and reserve duty and reached the rank of Major. In 1959 Jim became a pilot with Eastern Airlines where he retired in 1989. In his aviation career he flew 18 different airplanes.

Jim married Jean Hughes on April 26, 1952. They had five children. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City. He enjoyed his family, golfing and working outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean and parents George and Emily Lindlief.

He is survived by his children Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Kathy Lindlief, Jan Langford and fiancé Jerry McGary, Jon Lindlief, Jo and husband Mark Zimmerman, and Jayn and husband Frank Kneuer; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City, Ga. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
