A second arrest has been made in connection with the Dec. 2 robbery of the AT&T store on Ga. Highway 54 in Peachtree City. In that arrest a Jonesboro man was charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.

Faheem Ali, 30, of Jonesboro, was charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of kidnapping, according to warrants obtained at the Fayette County Magistrate Court.

According to warrants, Ali brandished a handgun while in the AT&T store and took approximately 41 cell phones valued at $23,339.

The kidnapping charges arose from Ali taking two store employees to a back office at gunpoint and holding them against their will, warrants said.

Nakita B. Burkes, 30, of Atlanta, drove the getaway vehicle and was charged with armed robbery-party to a crime, according to warrants.

Peachtree City officers on Dec. 2 at approximately 6 p.m. responded to the AT&T store on Hwy. 54 to a reported robbery, department spokesman Mark Brown said at the time.

Brown said the suspects were subsequently located on Hwy. 54 east of Fayetteville. Their vehicle was abandoned near Corinth Road and officers subsequently searched the area.

Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb on Dec. 3 said a female suspect in the vehicle was taken into custody in the Corinth Road area.

Babb said the two males eluded officers during the search. One of the males was described as a black male wearing all black with a black cap. The other male was described as a black male wearing a red hoodie. One male reportedly had a semi-automatic handgun, Babb said.

Brown said K-9 officers from Peachtree City and Fayetteville worked with deputies from the sheriff’s offices in Fayette and Clayton counties to search for the suspects.

Brown said the investigation into the robbery is continuing.
