Economic times may be tough but that was all the more reason for Coweta County Development Authority President Greg Wright to travel to Nashville recently to represent the county’s economic development and networking interests at the annual meeting of the Southeast U.S./Japan Association.

“Even though prospect activity has been down during the past 12 months, the meeting provided essential networking opportunities as activity is expected to increase once again,” Wright said. “The 34th annual meeting also allowed the creation of important new contacts and a chance to continue growing existing relationships.”

Speakers at the meeting included Japanese Ambassador to the U.S. Ichiro Fujisaki, Consul General of Japan in Atlanta Takuji Hanatani and Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Dennis Lockhart.

The SEUS/Japan Association was created in 1976 to promote trade, investment, understanding and friendship between Japan and that states in the Southeast U.S.

A Japanese counterpart organization, the Japan/U.S. Southeast Association, is composed of the country’s top business and government leaders.
