The annual “Bring One for the Chipper” program will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Three locations will be up and running this year between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Trees can be dropped off at the Peachtree City Recycling Center on Ga. Highway 74 south, behind the Kedron Kroger and in the parking lot of the Peachtree City Home Depot.

Those donating their old Christmas tree will receive a free tree seedling while supplies last. Trees should be free of all lights, tinsel and ornaments.

Donations of non-perishable food will also be accepted at all three locations to benefit local community food banks.

The event is sponsored and staffed by volunteers from Keep Peachtree City Beautiful, the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City and the Rotary Club of Peachtree City.

If hauling the tree yourself is a less than palatable option, the McIntosh High School boys lacrosse team will pick it up between Dec. 26 and Feb. 16 in exchange for a donation to the program. To arrange a pickup, email szherman@yahoo.com or call 770-487-8877.
