Piedmont Newnan Hospital last week announced that it will donate $10,000 to the Coweta County School System and other local organizations.
School system spokesperson Dean Jackson said Piedmont Newnan Hospital is showing its support for Coweta schools and students through its recent sponsorship of the Coweta County School System. Jackson said the sponsorship benefits a wide range of educational and student health and wellness programs at Coweta elementary, middle and high schools, as well as associated educational organizations.

“Piedmont Newnan Hospital believes the education and development of our community’s children is extremely important,” said hospital president and CEO Michael Bass. “Through our support of Coweta Schools and the school system’s associated educational organizations, we hope to improve students’ knowledge, health, and wellness, which will, in turn, benefit our entire community. Further, we hope many Coweta students will develop an interest in healthcare, and perhaps join our Piedmont workforce in the future.”

Jackson said the programs and organizations receiving direct donations from the $10,000 sponsorship include all 29 Coweta County schools, plus Stepping Stones of Coweta County, the Coweta County Special Olympics, the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts, and athletic and band booster clubs at all three high schools for their use during the 2010-11 school year.

“Piedmont Newnan Hospital has long been one of the most important business partners of the Coweta County School System, and one of the strongest and most consistent supporters of our students,” said Coweta schools superintendent Blake Bass. “This is an extremely generous and much appreciated gift to our students. We appreciate Piedmont Newnan’s continued support of education and of our school system.”
