Project Updates:

City Hall/Library Stairway Remains CLOSED for Repairs – the stairway between City Hall and the Library remains closed today for repairs. The project should be completed and the stairs open again on Tuesday, July 12.

Library Lower Level Entrance CLOSED for Repairs – The lower level entrance to the PTC Library remains closed due to cracks in the masonry. The area has been barricaded for safety reasons until repairs are completed. Please use the main entrance to the Library upstairs until further notice.

Rite Aid /Whitlock Ellis Entrance from Peachtree Parkway will have intermittent CLOSURES during construction of the Walgreens at Hwy 54 and Peachtree Parkway. Access from Hwy 54 will remain open. Path access via the Walgreens site was open for the July 4 weekend but will require additional closures until construction is complete. Even when open, this is a construction area – drive slowly and remain alert when using this entrance.

Lake McIntosh – Fayette County reports that the Lake McIntosh dam construction continues on schedule for a completion by December 2011 (note date correction), after which the lake can begin filling. The time to fill is estimated to be about one year, but depends on the amount rain and the amount of water withdrawn for treatment during filling.

Highway 74 South Sound Wall Landscaping – The City has received a grant for this project, but will be required to dedicate matching funds. This will be discussed as part of the FY 2012 budget preparation.

Multi-Use Bridge over SR 74 – There will be a contractor sealing cracks on the approaches to the bridge beginning next Monday, July 18. One lane of the bridge will remain open during work. Please drive bikes and carts with caution when workers are present.
