Northgate tops Whitewater 4-1 in girls AAAAA championship

The McIntosh boys soccer team brought home a trophy to Peachtree City tonight after defeating Houston County 2-0 in the AAAAA final in Carrollton.

In their post-game meeting, Head Coach Bunky Colvin told his Chiefs that they were "the greatest team in McIntosh history."

"You earned it. You are the best. Nobody was better," Colvin said.

The Chiefs allowed just two goals all season and beat a very worthy opponent in Houston, Colvin noted. Read More»

Mr. George Wesley Ingram. "The Tomato Man," passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Southland Nursing Center in Peachtree City, Ga.

He is predeceased by three brothers, Mozie Ingram, John L. Ingram and Jr. Ingram.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Leonard of Pennsacola, Fla.; and three sisters, Retta Stevens of Columbus, Ga.; Della Nabors of Tallassee, Ala. and Virginia Atkins of Eclectic, Ala. Starr’s Mill teen hurt in PTC golf cart crash

A Starr’s Mill sophomore suffered a serious head injury Thursday, May 9, when the golf cart she was riding on wrecked in the Kedron Village area.

Janice Dominguez was riding on the rear of the cart when it careened off the path, according to her mother, Marlene Dominguez. Janice was flown by air ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center where she was admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment. Read More»

Dienhart: ‘I’m against signal, for residents’

During last week’s council meeting, I stated my disappointment that we were still discussing the curb cut into Planterra Ridge and traffic light at the Line Creek Drive intersection.

Fleisch’s call for yet another traffic study is waste of money

Building a connector road from the proposed large grocery store retail space at “The Overlook” to Planterra Way and/or installing a new traffic light at the intersection of Line Creek Drive and Ga. Highway 54 is a no-starter for me.

Traffic study outcomes can vary based on using different variables and interpreting the data in different ways. Just because a proposed traffic study might say a light is needed, shouldn’t we also try to do the right thing by our citizens and neighborhoods? Read More»

Lou DeFranco, 73, of Peachtree City

Lou DeFranco, 73, of Peachtree City, passed away May 10, 2013. He was a retired engineer for Georgia-Pacific.

He is survived by his wife, Esther DeFranco of Peachtree City; daughter Cindy DeFranco of Chicago; brother, Joe DeFranco of Pennsylvania; nephew Ivan (Caroline) Merchan of Snellville; niece, Natalia Merchan (Edgar Penuela) of Madrid, Spain; grand-nieces, Sofia Merchan of Snellville and Valeria Penuela of Madrid, Spain; sisters-in-law, Martha Vega and Blanca-Lilia Vega of Madrid, Spain and Laly Knobloch of Munich, Germany. Alice Alldridge Thomson, age 95

Alice Alldridge Thomson was born on January 10, 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio. She died on May 9, 2013 at the age of 95 in Peachtree City, Ga.

Alice was a 5 year resident of Heritage of Peachtree where she had many friends on staff and with the residents. She had lived in Cleveland, Ohio for most of her life. Alice was married to Don Thomson in 1942.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, George and Maude Dille Alldridge; her sisters, Lois and Lillian and by her granddaughter-in-law, Beth Wortmann. Read More»
