At the request of the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, Peachtree City is looking to scale back its plans to improve the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Crosstown Drive.

The city on Wednesday asked the commission to set aside $774,000 in remaining transportation SPLOST funds to add multiple turn lanes to the intersection. The city needed a quick answer to avoid losing more than $400,000 in state matching funds for the project. Read More»

A visit from jolly old St. Nicholas on Christmas Eve is heralded by sleigh bells, but Santa will be making the rounds early in Peachtree City to a chorus of sirens, courtesy of the Peachtree City Fire Department and Volunteer Firefighters Association.

Robert H. Stone, 91, of Fayetteville, died November 30, 2010.

Mr. Stone was born to Judge and Artie Stone in Cullman County, AL on April 26, 1919. He married his love, Laurlene “Billie” Burgett, daughter of Z.D. and Vera Burgett, on December 27, 1938 and they were married for 72 years. He proudly served his country as a WWII vet, was a Mason for 54 years, as well as a member of Lisbon Baptist Church. In 1952 he moved his family to Fayetteville from Guntersville, AL.
