Jeffrey S. White of Brooks, Ga., passed away at home on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2012, after a short illness. Born in Quincy, Mass., Jeff had made Georgia his home for 40 years.

Austin Conley, 86, of Sharpsburg

Austin Conley, 86, of Sharpsburg, passed away on January 9, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Myrtle Conley. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Conley of Fayetteville and several cousins.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Dennis Watson and Rev. Ken Helms officiated. F’ville to say goodbye to Ed Travis

The man who ran a namesake hardware store on Fayetteville’s courthouse square for 30 years has died.

Edward Nicholas Travis, 90, who died Jan. 8, opened his hardware store on the Fayetteville Square in 1952. He sold it in 1982, but the vacant building on the western side of the square is still designated by locals as Travis Hardware.

He was always interested in his county and served in a number of capacities throughout his lifetime. Read More»

Edward N. Travis

He was born Dec. 21, 1921 in Rebecca, Ga., only child of the late Jesse Lee and Mary Green Travis. The family moved to Fayetteville in 1923.

He served in the U. S. Army in WWII for 3 years, 28 months were on active duty in Italy. After the war he returned to Fayetteville and in 1952 opened up a hardware store in the heart of the city which he operated until he sold it in late 1982.

He was named as the Fayette County Kiwanis Man of the Year in 1961, Fayette County Citizen of the Year in 1968, Business Person of the Year in 1982. Read More»

Mrs. Melba Taylor of Peachtree City passed away Jan. 7, 2012 after a 6 month battle with cancer. She was employed by Avis Rent A Car at the Atlanta Airport for 35 years.

Mr. William G. Nordmark,"Bill", of Riverdale, Ga., passed away on Dec. 29, 2011 at the age of 82.

Mr. Nordmark was a kind, loving and handsome man who always made people he came in contact with feel special.

Donald Stuart Tuel, 79, of Fayetteville

Mr. Donald Stuart Tuel, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Dec. 27, 2011.

Mr. Tuel was a proud veteran, who served his country in the US Air Force. Following his military career, he joined Piedmont Airlines in 1962, which later became US Airways.

He was a lead mechanic and retired with 35 years of service He was also the flight engineer for Atlanta Skylarks Travel Club.

He loved working on aircraft and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh but above everything else, his family was his first priority. Read More»

Fayetteville, passed away Dec. 24, 2011.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mae Babb Banks.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly Banks and daughters, Cathy Banks, Robbie Walden, Donna Staples, Angela New, sister, Joe Ann Dean.

A service celebrating the life of T.R. Banks was held Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel.
