Mr. Arnold (Arnie) Shaw of Peachtree City passed away Jan. 24, 2012.

Mildred Wells, 92, of Peachtree City

Mildred Wells, 92, passed away Jan. 16, 2012. Born in 1919, Mildred grew up in the small community of Knoxville, Mo., the daughter of a farmer who raised hogs and grew corn and other crops.

She and her sister rode a pony to a one-room schoolhouse each day, and their Dad built a small shed to shelter the pony at the school during cold winter Missouri days. She attended high school in nearby Richmond, Mo., boarding in town during the week with a friend and returning home to the farm on weekends. Read More»

Juanita Rose Dahlberg of Peachtree City

Juanita Rose Dahlberg of Peachtree City, for 48 years the devoted and beloved wife of Robert Dahlberg, Jr., died on Jan. 18, 2012.

A member of the Peachtree City Church of Christ, she was active in church, civic, and social activities.

She was born in Carthage, Mo. on Oct. 8, 1936, and was the loving mother of five children: Taye Armstrong, Jeff Armstrong, Rusty Armstrong, Charm Faust, and Roger Dahlberg. Ellie Ruth Nigro

Little Ellie Ruth Nigro, 6, of Peachtree City, Ga., passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2012.

She was born Feb. 15, 2005 in Riverdale, Ga. to Todd M. Nigro & Kristen H. Fallborn Nigro. Ellie was in the first grade and was home schooled. She was a pretty active little girl who especially loved swimming, soccer and loved to play the cello. Read More»

William Reeves Weinmeister, 85, of Peachtree City passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012.

He was the owner and operator of the Farmers and Builders Supply Company from 1967-1992. He was also a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Weinmeister; daughters Kathy and her husband Dudley Fincher of Fayetteville; Carol and Brad Hopkins of Evening Shade, Ark. and son Tim Weinmeister and Jalon Burton of Fayetteville; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Read More»

Hiram Edwin Bell, 82, passed away Jan. 5, 2012. Mr. Bell was born Oct. 2, 1929 in Waycross, Ga.

He was a simple, small town southern man, a hard working honorable man. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and went on to own a very successful painting business.

He was a loving father and wonderful grandfather. He taught us all to keep your word and do your best no matter what.

Rebecca Stewart Carey, 95

Rebecca Stewart Carey, 95, passed away Jan. 6, 2012. A woman of quiet dignity, she exuded southern grace, kindness and warmth and was affectionately called Muzzy by all who knew her.

Born in 1916, Rebecca grew up in Clarkesville, Ga., the daughter of a local merchant whose store served Habersham county in dry goods, hardware and groceries. After high school, she attended Piedmont College and the University of Georgia.

Rebecca was married for over 49 years to John F. Carey, Jr., a WWII veteran who died in 1978. She was a member of Clarkesville United Methodist Church. Read More»

Sarah Elizabeth Cooper Forrest, 73, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. She retired as a registered nurse having worked at many hospitals all over Atlanta.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Thomas L. Forrest, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Edwin "Ed" Faulkner.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mark Anglin of Covington; grandsons Connor, James, and Stephen; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sandy Cooper as well as her niece, Linda Faulkner and nephews, Eddie and Michael Faulkner. Read More»

Sharon Anne Munk, 69, of Peachtree City passed away Jan. 14, 2012.

Survivors include sons John Adam Munk, Jr. and Michael & Paige Munk; grandchildren Tyler, Trevor, and Carter; sister Mary Jo Seeley; brother Joseph Collins; and also nieces & nephews.

A Celebration of life was held Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family received friends Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Eugene Pitner, Sr., age 81, of Fayetteville

Mr. Robert Eugene Pitner, Sr. of Fayetteville, formerly of Forest Park, passed away on Jan. 15, 2012 at the age of 81. He was the only son of James Ray and Lillie Mae Pitner of Acworth, Ga. Mr. Pitner was a loving husband, father, grandfather of nine, and great grandfather of eight.

He worked for Southern Bell and retired after 32 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, and an active member of Moose Lodge 1498 and the Elks Lodge. Read More»
