Ashley Elizabeth Smith and Joshua Andrew Christ were married at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church on Oct.1, 2011. The officiating minister was the Rev. Scott Hagan of Columbus. The bride is the daughter of Benjamin and Karen Smith of Fayetteville. The groom is the son of Tony Christ of Florida and Ms. Linda Christ of Canton.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her maid of honor was Carrie Waldrop of Fayetteville. Other bridesmaids were Sarah Richards and Karen Psiaki of Fayetteville, Elisa Egolf of Maryland, Autumn Weber of Virginia, and Jackie Congress of New York. Read More»

Kelly Marie Escarra and Jeffrey Douglas Crisp were married at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone on Oct. 22, 2011. Hugh Kirby of Fayetteville conducted the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Rick and Peggy Escarra of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Elaine Aylor and the late Albert Aylor of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Sarita Escarra and the late Miguel Escarra of Miami, Fla.

Denham Anniversary

Paul and Gwen Denham celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 29, 2011, with a party of family and friends at The Westin Hotel in College Park.

Both were born and raised in Fayette County and, after moving away for a while, they decided to move back and for the past 20 years, they have called Fayetteville “home.”

Now they are enjoying the retired life. Paul retired after 36 years of being his own boss of Denham Construction Company and Gwen retired after 17 years of service with the Fulton County Board of Transportation.

Tresca Smith and Paul Rivers were married Nov. 5, 2011, in an outdoor wedding at their home off Sandy Creek Road in Fayette County. A reception, held in the barn, followed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Sandra Smith of Fayetteville and the late Hoke Smith Jr. The groom is the son of Barbara Rivers, also of Fayetteville, and the late Charles Rivers.

Preston anniversary

Eugene T. and Nancy Parker Preston celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during the weekend of Oct. 7, 8 and 9. They were married at the First Baptist Church of Forest Park on Oct. 7, 1961, and lived in Hapeville for more than 26 years where they raised their two children, Tamra and Steven. They also have three grand children, Joan, Hezekyah, and Yoshiyah Apperson.

Mr. Preston retired after 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service and Mrs. Preston retired after 27 years with Delta Air Lines.

In 1987, the Prestons built a home in Fayetteville where they have lived for the past 24 years.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Cindy Farr of Newnan and Rick Puckett of Douglasville. She is a pharmacist with Publix in Atlanta.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Patrick Gareau Sr. of Cleveland, Ohio. He is the director for global operations with Casemate, also in Atlanta.

The bride is the daughter of Malia Brooks Isaac of Peachtree City and Keith Philip Isaac of Moreland.
