F’ville Council resolution supports county transportation plan; proposed projects listed

The Fayetteville City Council on March 3 adopted a resolution supporting potential projects that will be reviewed for potential inclusion in the regional transportation 1-cent sales tax initiative going before voters in mid-2012. The measure, consisting mainly of local projects, is expected to be considered by other local Fayette County governments in the coming days.

Apartment developer's lawsuit: PTC Council's rezoning refusal is racist

In a Superior Court lawsuit filed last year, senior apartment developer NorSouth Company accused Peachtree City of denying a rezoning proposal based on racism. The city denied the allegation in its response to the lawsuit, which ultimately was settled last week as the City Council reversed course under pressure from lawsuits filed in both Fayette Superior Court and in federal district court. F’ville imposes moratorium on sweepstakes gaming

The Fayetteville City Council last week imposed a six-month moratorium on new businesses such as the Sweepstakes Internet Cafe.

The action comes after the business in Hudson Plaza on North Glynn Street that recently secured a business license to operate a business center was reported to been engaging in cash pay-outs for customers playing sweepstakes games on the premises.

Fayetteville City Manager Joe Morton Tuesday morning said the company indicated on the business license application that it would be providing services such as copying, printing and computer access. Read More»

Tyrone eyes upcoming budget shortfall

Tyrone business helps launch new tool for cops

Tyrone detectives have a new tool for use in tracking and locating stolen property courtesy of a $2,002 donation from a local business, J.P. Baker Construction.

Police Chief Brandon Perkins said the new online database, Leads Online, connects police to pawnshops, scraps yards, and second hand stores across the country and allows detectives to search for stolen items even in cases where they do not have a serial number.
