PTC tables county transportation plan review, transit opposed

Presented with a request to sign off on the latest Fayette County Transportation Plan, the Peachtree City Council threw up the brakes Thursday night in favor of waiting until it is put in a final form and council members could be briefed on further specifics of the proposal.

The draft of the plan was circulated to councilmembers in advance of the meeting, but Councilman Eric Imker said he wants the city to specifically object to several projects in the plan, because a blanket “yes” vote would lead people to believe the city was okay with all of the plan’s proposals. New PTC pool contract approved, results in $7K savings over previous year

A new contract to operate Peachtree City’s five pools will result in a savings of $7,000 from the previous year, officials said at Thursday night’s city council meeting.

The contract will again go to USA Pools, which was deemed the most qualified company that submitted a proposal. The $249,000 contract was approved unanimously by council.

PTC sets fees for celltower applications, funds cover engineering analysis

To cover the cost of an independent wireless consultant, the Peachtree City Council has established a new fee for reviewing permits for new cellphone towers and antennas.

A new tower application fee will cost $4,500 and applications to put an antenna will cost $2,000 to review. The review of applications to put an antenna on an existing celltower will cost $250.

The new fees were adopted unanimously Thursday night by the city council, along with approval of consulting engineer David Snavely of Plantation, Fla.

Controversial Walgreens architecture up for vote Nov. 29 at PTC Planning Commission

The latest building elevations for a Walgreens Pharmacy at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway will be unveiled at the Nov. 29 meeting of the Peachtree City Planning Commission. Senoia budget nearly flat for 2011

The Senoia City Council on Monday night heard the first reading of the upcoming $2.1 million FY 2011 General Fund budget that takes effect in January. The second reading and likely approval will come in December.

The 2011 General Fund budget shows an increase in revenues totaling $24,600 over 2010, with revenues and expenditures each totaling $2,128,400. Read More»

PTC eyes hiring celltower consultant on contract

To better evaluate proposals for new celltowers, Peachtree City plans to enter a contract with an engineer specializing in the analysis of such projects.

At Thursday night’s City Council meeting, approval is expected for an agreement with consulting engineer David Snavely of Plantation, Fla.

Snavely’s fees will be covered by revenue from the new application fee that will be assessed on telecommunications companies seeking to erect new celltowers, according to a memo from City Attorney Ted Meeker.
