3 Atlanta area teens arrested in Fayette Pavilion carjacking

Two teenage males from Atlanta and one from DeKalb County were taken into custody Thursday after a high-speed chase that began at the Fayette Pavilion as a carjacking and ended near downtown Atlanta after the stolen vehicle was disabled.

The three juveniles, one age 14 and the others age 16, were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft by taking motor vehicle and fleeing and attempting to elude, according to Fayetteville Police Det. Fayette deputy charged with viewing child porn

A longtime Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested March 13 after an investigation revealed that he had used his office computer to search for and view child pornography.

Sheriff Barry Babb said Dep. Harry “Butch” Parris was terminated for cause from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 23. Parris was arrested March 13 and charged with sexual exploitation of children and violation of his oath of office. Read More»

Deputies nab man, 21, for attempt on girl, 14

A north Fayette County man has been arrested on charges of attempted child molestation in relation to a Feb. 1 incident involving Facebook and a 14-year-old Fayette County girl.

Julio Lugo. Jr., 21, of Club Drive off Milam Road in north Fayette County, was charged with attempted child molestation and electronic pornography and child exploitation, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb. Read More»

Chief: F’ville remains one of safest cities in Georgia

A recent presentation by Fayetteville Police Chief Steve Heaton on the city’s 2012 crime statistics showed the community continues to maintain a lower crime rate in both violent crimes and property crimes than most Georgia cities of comparable size.

In his presentation to the City Council in late February, Heaton said the more serious crimes decreased by 1.35 percent over 2011 while less serious crimes decreased by nearly 20 percent in the past two years. Read More»

Burglar hits 9 homes in Fenwick Commons

Fayetteville Police detectives were out all day Feb. 23 in the Fenwick Commons subdivision off South Jeff Davis Drive to process the scene after nine homes were targeted by a burglar just hours earlier.

It appears that one person was responsible for the late night spree that had two homes entered and cash stolen.

Det. Mike Whitlow said nine homes on Brittany Chase off South Jeff Davis Drive were targeted by what is believed to have been a lone burglar. Two of the nine homes were entered, Whitlow said. Read More»

F’ville man charged with choking wife

A Feb. 24 incident in the parking lot at Balmoral Village Apartments on South Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City landed a Fayetteville man in jail on charges of aggravated assault after he allegedly choked his wife and attempted to hit her in the head with a tire jack.

Lonnie L. Green, 25, of Cobblestone Boulevard in Fayetteville, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of battery, according to arrest reports. Read More»

Man arrested in PTC hostage situation

Armed man held woman against her will at Flat Creek Villas

A 33-year-old Peachtree City man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he held a female hostage inside their home on Flat Creek Court, police said.

Eric Stephen King surrendered peacefully at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, more than eight hours after police were first summoned to the residence at Flat Creek Villas on a report that he had struck the victim several times, police said.

King interfered with the woman’s attempt to call 911 and prevented her from leaving the residence, police said. Read More»
