Fifth-grade students at Peachtree City Elementary School are enjoying participating in the school’s first Scrabble Club sponsored by April Mobley, fifth-grade teacher. Lee Middle School receives national ‘Lighthouse school’ honor

Fayette Middle honored as Title I Distinguished School

Fayette Middle School on Grady Avenue in Fayetteville has been named a National Title I Distinguished School.

Fayette Middle School serves 710 students in grades 6-8. Principal Sharlene Patterson credits her faculty and staff as a major factor in her school’s success: “I just can’t say enough about the hard work they put into this work every day. Coweta schools give early warning to parents of Pre-K kids

The Coweta County Schol System is reminding the parents of next year’s Pre-K children that they should mark March 12-23 on their 2012 calendar. That is because there will be a limited number of Pre-K seats available for the 2012-2013 school year that begins next summer. CEC Robotics team competes in southeastern BEST Robotics competition

The Central Educational Center’s TriBot’s BEST Robotics Team competed at the South’s BEST Robotics Regional competition, held Dec. 2 and 3 at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.

CEC robotics team members earned their spot at the regional competition by placing 2nd at the Georgia BEST Robotics competition in late October. The regional competition held in Auburn included 50 teams from 13 hubs in 7 southeastern states, according to Coweta County School System spokesman Dean Jackson. Read More»

Coweta nominates 46 students for Governor’s Honors

The Coweta County School System has nominated 46 students to state-level interviews for the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program. Nearly 700 finalists from across Georgia will be selected for next summer’s activities at Valdosta State University. Read More»

Lady Chief reaches 1,000-point mark ... 4 games into junior season

Heading into last Saturday’s game with the East Coweta Lady Indians, Gabby Seiler, a starting point guard for the McIntosh Lady Chiefs, knew she needed nine points to reach the 1,000 points milestone in her high school basketball career.

Head coach David Dowse knew the junior was counting down as she neared her goal, and when she reached the free throw line in the second quarter, she hit 1,000 points when she connected with the second foul shot. Read More»
