Peachtree City Police investigators on Aug. 27 arrested Robin Darleen White, 37, of Aberdeen Drive on with three counts of theft by receiving stolen property and two counts of financial identity fraud. The cleaning service operator is accused of stealing from her clients.

Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove said the charges stemed from an ongoing fraud investigation conducted by the Peachtree City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Read More»

Fayette County’s unemployment rate continues to gradually improve, according to the latest figures released Wednesday by the Georgia Department of Labor.

The data shows that the county’s number of employed persons rose by 165 people in July compared to the previous month. That translated to a lowering of the unemployment rate from 8.6 percent in June to 8.3 percent in July.

Both figures are below the 8.7 percent rate attributed to Fayette County in July 2009 and the current 10.2 percent unemployment rate in metro Atlanta and 9.9 percent unemployment rate statewide. Read More»

Peachtree City Mayor Don Haddix has been elected to be Fayette County’s representative on a group that will decide which regional transportation projects should be pursued for funding through a proposed 10-year region-wide special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST). Read More»

Peachtree City’s former visitors center, located at the city’s tennis center, is now a part of the tennis center operations again.

The city council last week officially signed over control of the building to Canongate, the private company that is managing the tennis center on behalf of the city.

The old visitor’s center was vacated several months ago as it was relocated to the city’s amphitheater box office building so employees could share duties between the visitors center and the amphitheater. Read More»
