Celebrating 107 with 4 generations

The sparkle in her eyes and the animation in her voice would have many people surprised to learn that Leslye Mount Puddy had just turned 107 years old. For Leslye Puddy, it is more like she is 107 years young.

Puddy was born in Ruston, La., on Feb. 24, 1904. She graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1925 with a Bachelor of Industry and, in 1929, she received a B.A. in Commerce. Read More»

Half of Fayette’s high schoolers skipped classes last week

Fayette County schools officially made up three “ice days” from January last week during what had been scheduled to be a week of winter break. Murder charges filed in shaken baby’s death

Murder charges were filed Tuesday against a Franklin man in connection with the Feb. 25 death of a 5-month-old infant who received injuries after being shaken, officials said.

Gov. Deal welcomes Sany to PTC

The beginning of a fruitful partnership between Georgia and the Hunan Provence of China was celebrated in style Monday, complete with an orchestra and a red carpet ceremony to mark completion of the first phase of Sany America’s assembly plant facility in Peachtree City.

Assembly and production will gear up later this year, as Sany America plans to surpass the 200 employee mark. By the end of 2012, the company plans to have a total of 300 employees on board.

Currently the company employs 108 people, and its Peachtree City campus will become its U.S. headquarters. Read More»

At Crabapple Lane Elementary School fifth grade students participated in a hands on Science lesson by creating their own working electrical boxes. As a part of the unit on electricity students designed, created, and then wired shoebox rooms with working lights and home-made switches.
