Kenneth H. Maloy, president and CEO of SouthCrest Financial Group, Inc. (SCSG:PK) recently announced the company’s preliminary 2014 fourth quarter earnings and said he expects a continued upward trend in coming quarterly reports.

SouthCrest is a $570 million asset bank holding company headquartered in Peachtree City. PTC sees 2 possible heroin overdose deaths in January

There have been two possible overdose deaths and a third non-fatal suspected overdose in Peachtree City during January which which could have been due to heroin. The potential exists that, unknown to the user, the heroin might have been laced with a powerful synthetic narcotic.

According to the Peachtree City Police Department there have been two possible heroin overdoses which led to the death of the user and another suspected overdose in which the individual did not die. Read More»

Chiefs' unbeaten streak now at 23

The McIntosh Chiefs ran their perfect season record to 23-0 with a 63-38 win over Forest Park Friday night at home.

Leading 27-20 at the half, the Chiefs came out and scored the first nine points of the third quarter, building a 50-26 lead by the end of the period.

Now 16-0 in Region 4-AAAAA with only two regular-season games to play, McIntosh will travel to Mundy's Mill Tuesday night before hosting Northgate next Friday.

Northgate High student arrested for making bomb threat

A Northgate High School student was arrested on felony charges Jan. 28 in connection with a bomb threat he made earlier in the day after being suspended from school.

Brandon Dale Hammond, 17, was charged with felony making terroristic threats and disrupting a public school according to Lt. Col. James Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Read More»

PTC house fire results in total loss, no injuries

Units with Peachtree City Fire Rescue on Wednesday responded to a fire in progress at 105 Grenoble Road that resulted in a near total loss of the residence but without any injuries.

Department spokesman Ron Mundy said the fire call came in at 12:53 p.m., with the first units responding within three minutes.

Update: Northgate High was given an all-clear after the bomb threat, with the first bus loads of staff and students returning to the school at 1 p.m.

Original story: Northgate High School in east Coweta County was evacuated Wednesday morning after the school received a bomb threat by email. Safety procedures were put in place to evacuate students and staff while law enforcement initiated a search of the large high school. Read More»

Work on the corporate headquarters for Osmose Utility Services, Inc. is underway on Ga. Highway 74 South in Peachtree City.

Gov. Nathan Deal on Jan. 21 announced that Osmose Utilities Services, Inc., an inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation service provider for electric utilities and telecommunication companies, will build a new headquarters in Peachtree City, creating as many as 100 new jobs over the next year.
