Surrounded by shades of blue, glittering jewels, and comfortable denim, guests filled the Fayette Senior Services Life Enrichment Center to enjoy Rhapsody In Blues – Blue Denim, Blue Diamonds, and the Blues – a benefit gala held on Saturday, Mar. 12.

Guests enjoyed a glamorous night of fabulous food prepared by Fayette Senior Services Ultimate Café award-winning Executive Chef, Donnie Wuerl with sumptuous desserts created by Something Delightful Bakery. The highlight of the evening featured entertainment by world renowned blues/jazz artist, Eden Brent. The event theme set the tone for the “fun”-raising evening that included shopping for “bling” at the Blue Diamond Boutique a chance to win dazzling raffle prizes, and mingling at the Blue Denim Lounge.

The event was a success for non-profit, Fayette Senior Services, the provider of Meals On Wheels, transportation, and other life-enriching services that help Fayette’s seniors live well and age well. Director & COO, Nancy Meaders was thrilled with the results of the evening, “This event shined a bright spotlight on the diverse needs of our older adult population and all that we do to ensure that our seniors can have a better quality of life.  We are a lifeline to hundreds of seniors on a daily basis and too few people in the community are really aware of all that we do to enrich the lives of our aging population.”

The Rhapsody In Blues Planning Committee provided the imaginative décor, attentive details and great ambiance, which made the evening a memorable experience. Committee members included, Dawn Davis, Angela Bean, Debbie Steele, Carla Waters, and Vicki Turner. Nearly two dozen other volunteers contributed their time and talents to make the event a success.
