The Fayette County High School Hall of Fame Committee has selected its induction class of 2010.  The members of this year’s induction class include six athletes/coaches and three distinguished alumni. read more

The area 5-AAAA wrestling tournament took place over the weekend and the teams from Fayette County did well. Whitewater placed second behind Alexander and head of Fayette County (3rd), Sandy Creek (4th), McIntosh (6th) and Starr’s Mill (7th). Overall, 32 wrestlers from the five schools have qualified for the AAAA state tournament. read more

Today, Wednesday, Feb. 3, is National Signing Day and area schools will be buzzing with activity as numerous scholar atheltes will sign letters of intent to attend certain colleges and universities and represent them on the athletic fields as well as in the classrooms. read more

German Bundesliga Club, Eintracht Frankfurt, has signed Houston Dynamo and AFC Lightning Alum, Ricardo Clark through the end of the season with a three-year option.  The 26-year-old Clark, who has 27 caps for the USA and two goals, has played in MLS since 2003. read more

Former Alabama All-American catcher Ashley Holcombe of Fayetteville, was named to the 2010 Team USA softball roster as announced by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America. Holcombe, a graduate of Fayette County High School, was one of 17 athletes that were offered a USA Softball Athlete Agreement for the 2010 season. read more

The Whitewater boys won the county swim meet last Friday for the first time in the school’s history. read more

Whitewater hosted the Southside Brawl last Friday and Saturday and placed sixth, the highest finish of any of the local teams participating. Following the Wildcats were McIntosh is seventh, Starr’s Mill in 12th and Landmark in 15th. read more

Brandon Putnam, a Sandy Creek graduate and a freshman football player at Duke University, was arrested Sunday with two other Duke players after police said someone was firing a gun into the air. read more
