The area 5-AAAA wrestling tournament took place over the weekend and the teams from Fayette County did well. Whitewater placed second behind Alexander and head of Fayette County (3rd), Sandy Creek (4th), McIntosh (6th) and Starr’s Mill (7th). Overall, 32 wrestlers from the five schools have qualified for the AAAA state tournament. read more

German Bundesliga Club, Eintracht Frankfurt, has signed Houston Dynamo and AFC Lightning Alum, Ricardo Clark through the end of the season with a three-year option.  The 26-year-old Clark, who has 27 caps for the USA and two goals, has played in MLS since 2003. read more

Former Alabama All-American catcher Ashley Holcombe of Fayetteville, was named to the 2010 Team USA softball roster as announced by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America. Holcombe, a graduate of Fayette County High School, was one of 17 athletes that were offered a USA Softball Athlete Agreement for the 2010 season. read more
